We arrived late evening and the man on the desk, was not very kind to us, very rude. Had to email a copy of booking to reception to prove who we was. The rest of reception staff was very good during our 2 weeks stay.
Our room was located near the main road right at bottom of the steps. Lots & lots of steps, only suitable for anyone who is very fit 140 steps from top floor to our room. Was very fit at end of our 2 weeks. We had a excellent sea view from our room window. The area we stayed in was very modern, newer part of resort. New modern electrics with lots of USB points and wall mounted TV. so it was worth walking down all the steps to get to our room. We only took the transport occasionally.
Restaurant - It is a bit disappointing when you first walk in, needs upgrading, redecorating. The staff in the restaurant did look after you, and food was very good standard. Some staff members did serve you most of the evening in different parts of resort, and they where very nice to us.
Did try the Greek Restaurant & La Carte Restaurant as well. The Resort was good value for the price which we paid 42% off, but some areas like main restaurant are not 5 star. There was some entertainment, but we would have liked more entertainment most evenings and in the main hotel bar next to reception.
Went down to the beach a few times, but it is a long walk down the hills in the heat, best to take the bus. local bus to Herakilion from the resort, it is in a remote area.

The Palace is advertised as a 5 star, however it should be rated as 4 star. I had to move the bed to watch an uninterrupted view of the TV as one of the four posters posts was in the middle of the TV view. There are no t-bags or milk in the room and I had to continually ask for more coffee and sugar. The staff were always very helpful and accommodating. The room is comfortable, but does not warrant a 5 star. There is no shuttle service to the airport, which costs a basic 45 Euros. The Diana supermarket is handy at a 2 minute walk and the beach and bars are 5 minutes walk, although the beach is flooded with sun loungers that all belong to the various bars. The beach is very rocky near the shore line. The food is good, however very little seafood. Mussels were available once and fish was generally served in a sauce.
A nice hotel, conveniently located with helpful staff, but as stated not a 5 star.

We had a wonderful holiday at Bella Beach. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the vibe was friendly and relaxed. It benefits from being a smaller hotel, when compared with some of the adjacent properties.
We stayed in late October, so the hotel was naturally quieter, but there was still plenty on offer for guests, and particularly for families. A couple of the noted facilities (mini golf etc.) are no longer available on site, but that didn't detract from our stay.
The location is also good; 20mins drive from Heraklion airport and within 60-90mins of many of the popular attractions.
Our only observation is that some guests may feel that the five-star rating is misleading, but I think that's possibly a subjective point. This is a quality hotel, but it isn't the high-end luxury that some might expect of five stars. However, it is still excellent and, frankly, suited us better as a family just the way it was.
