Dana Point Luxury Vacations

The mattress needed to be replaced. There were craters on either side and made it uncomfortable.

I'm going to start with the cons because folks should be warned: This place is VERY run down/grimy. Dingy, banged up furniture. Broken outlet plates, key cards that sometimes work, sometimes don't. No central air, so be prepared for an effective but LOUD wall unit. The carpet and the seating area in the lounge were filthy. And here's the worst part - in spite of being on the 3rd floor... ANTS all over the place in the room! Swarming the trash, my dog's food bowl, etc. When I went to tell them about it, their solution was to come in while I was out & spray RAID in the room! So then my room reeked of RAID because it was 100 degrees out and opening the slider was pure misery. I couldn't believe they thought that was an okay solution. Plus, by the next day the ants were back in full force all over everything. Really gross and yucky. Pros: Staff are really great and helpful. Parking fee is cheap and not per day. Obviously the location is lovely and relaxing. I had a harbor view room and it was a good choice. The price is cheap by comparison to other hotels. (But expensive when you look at what you have to tolerate. No one wants to drop $250 a night on an ant-filled, noisy, dingy, broken down hotel room.) And here's the thing. The hotel is about to be demolished and replaced - so nothing's getting improved. So expect it to be the same.
