Very Disappointing Experience – Not What We Expected From Moon Palace We booked our vacation at Moon Palace Cancun, and at the time of booking it was not made clear to us that we would be staying specifically in the Sunrise section. Considering how much we paid for this vacation, the experience was extremely disappointing. The rooms and buildings felt old and outdated, but the worst part was finding a worm actually ON the bed. This was completely unacceptable. The beach was another major disappointment. There was a very strong, unpleasant smell, and there was a large amount of seaweed. The water and shoreline looked dark and black in areas. We came to Cancun expecting to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean beach, and unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy it here. The food was also disappointing and did not match the quality we expected for the price we paid. There also wasn’t enough to do, especially for families with kids and teenagers. Many things closed early, and the resort became very quiet at night with limited entertainment and activities. What bothered us most is that we paid a lot of money expecting the Moon Palace experience that was advertised to us. Had we known exactly what the Sunrise section, beach, and overall experience would be like, we would have made a different choice. Cancun is beautiful, but unfortunately our experience at Moon Palace did not live up to our expectations or the amount of money we spent. We would not return based on this experience.

Great service, amazing food, and incredibly friendly staff. This was truly a luxurious vacation experience! The beach was beautiful, and Jorge provided amazing service. Daniel, our bartender, was also fantastic. I absolutely love this place and will definitely come back again. The only thing I would avoid is visiting during seaweed season. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

Room was cleaned but they didn’t refill fridge daily, there was 4 rooms in our group we all got different treatment. Like slippers in 1 room but not in other rooms. One robe for 2 people in a room. Staff was friendly, the bell boys were wonderful and accommodating. Food was good and bartenders were okay nothing to rave about. Do not buy anything at their store, rip off! I paid $74 USD for a floating, she was already blowing it up before I realized the pasos conversion! I felt very ripped off! Coffee shop was wonderful! I was a preferred , there is no way to tell who’s preferred or not! So as far as I’m concerned everyone is preferred! One room is preferred, it has AC with a bar & same food at buffet. You need a key to enter room that’s only difference, that I saw! Save your money!!! Everyone can go to preferred pool!

Another up-beat Mexican resort trying to cater to everyone. Staff here is excellent as it is in most places in Cozumel. The ownership is central to one family, which makes a difference in their job satisfaction. I think others had mentioned maybe making the Explorean an adults-only resort. I would agree Fiesta Americana would be the great place for kids.
