Great Location Poor Decisions

Pros: The location and the outside of the hotel wasn't bad either.
Cons: Do not accept low income/homeless people OR--accept low income/homeless people but do not market as a hotel because this is a conflict of interest.
Location: The main mall, Six Flaggs, and the naval base is 15 minutes away.
The hotel is in a prime location in respects to the main mall in North Chicago, restaurants, and the naval base. It is on the corner of East Bay and Grand. The first room that the hotel placed me in, the mattress was filthy, had black soot on it, holes all in it and appeared that it came from the dump. The floor meaning the entire floors carpet and tile in the bathroom was wet and sticky. The remote was missing for the TV. A man's fingerprint was clearly visible on the mirror of the bathroom and when I tried to open the night stand to look for the remote for the TV, I put my hand in vasoline or something similiar only to discover there was no remote for the TV??? I immediately called the hotel clerk who placed me in a different room. The new room that I was placed in was the room pictured on the website so I really didn't have any complaints about the new room plus it was downstairs next to the lobby. However during one of my three-night stays, I went to the lobby where I ran into a few shaddy characters who were also staying in the hotel. One lady, who was low-income advised me that the hotel was being used to house homeless and low-income people on extended stays. One of the lady's stated while she was getting breakfast that she found two bed bugs. The other lady after she left said she probably brought them with her. Now I cannot confirm this story nor would I want to, nor that bed bugs were present; however, I would not stay there again.

Terrible, unsafe, and unclean

Pros: Location. Too bad because If I liked it I would use it when I bring my family to Great America but thais hotel is now not a choice.
Cons: Staff that can properly clean the rooms. Upgrade linen that does not have holes in them. Properly fix rooms so that they are not a hazard.
Location: Great America, Water slides, ice rinks 10 minutes away. this hotel could make it good if kept up.
When my son and I were getting ready for bed we realized that the pillow cases had hair on them. We checked the sheets and they also were unclean and had some hair on them. I went to the front desk and asked if I could have my sheets changed. The lady at the front desk went and got clean sheets and handed them to me. I change the bedding myself and with this noticed that the cleaned sheets had some holes in them (moths). I took a shower the next morning and realized that the shower curtain rod was not stabilized properly and could possibly fall. The rod was screwed into the wall on a metal plate that if it fell could cut someone and badly injure them. My 12 y/o son took a shower the night before and I did not realize this was an unsafe curtain rod (thank God nothing happened). I talked to Ted at the front desk and asked for the manager and Ted said that he was not in. I told him about the unsafe shower curtain and asked for it to be fixed. Ted responded that a maintenance man sometimes comes in. I asked to have the manager call me and to have the curtain rod fixed. I then left at 8:00am to go to my son's hockey tournament. I returned back to the hotel around 6:30pm and had not received a call from the hotel manager nor was the curtain rod fixed. At this time I decided to check out and go to another hotel. I asked for compensation for my troubles and the clerk offered 10 dollars off the total. I stated that I had to change the dirty sheets myself. I only got $20

the staff was good and friendly. I actually left my charger to my phone there overnight and when I went back the next day the ladies that were there in the morning were very friendly and actually got it for me.The area was okay but when we went in the room I noticed that the bathtub was gross and dirty they have something plastic covering something that was in the bathtub like it was old and moldy. I would not recommend this hotel and I would not stay at the hotel again.

I thought this was a real good value, updated flat screan tv, lamps on end tables have a plugs for cpap or phone/ipad. Toilet was enlongated, bathroom could be a little cleaner but wasn't bad.

Wish the wireless was better

Pros: Thr room is clean and has all of the features you would expect.
Cons: The wireless access.
Location: The location is very good. There are restaurants nearby and access to anumber of places.
All of what one expects from a hotel, I have found satisfactory, but I wish the wireless access was better since I use it so much for travelling and keeping in touch with people.

untidy motel

Found out that this was A super 8 motel, pictures look good but not in reality, the room smells bad, the floor is wet and sticky, dusty and the restroom stinks. Breakfast is good though and staff Are friendly

This was by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. Where do i even start? There were absolutely NO towels in the room, only 2 flat pillows for 4 people we had to roll up sweatshirts for pillows, the beds which werent even level with each other were hard as a rock. The front desk called us at 1 am accusing us of making noise and disturbing people in the room next to us when all reality it was the rotten bed bouncing off the wall every time we moved. The room was not cleaned properly. We found keys left in the room on the tv from the last guests and kleenex under the bed. Do yourself a favor and spend an extra 20 and go down the road...this place should be closed down ...Front desk staff was really rude too when accusing us of making noise and didnt even identify themselves when calling just started going off on us. I was scared and wanted to leave in the middle of night..HORRIBLE experience....stay elsewhere

No microwave

There are no microwaves in the room. People have to use one microwave in the kitchen area. As soon as I checked in, two families were checking out. They said the room smelled bad, and there are no microwaves. Also one of the families told me the hotel used to be a Super 8. I guess that explains a lot.
