Hotel Colosseum

Via Sforza 10, Rome 00184 - Map
"Nice hotel near train station."
This was a great hotel at a great price. The rooftop bar area is amazing--you can see the Colosseum. It is a good location because it is very close to the train station (10 minute walk), a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum, and about 17 euro cab ride to the Vatican. Very nice staff. Nice room, but the beds are very hard. Would definite recommend to anyone on a budget in Rome.

"Nice hotel small rooms "
Hotel Ivanhoe was nice and in a good location but although the room was lovely and clean the room itself was tiny and didn't have a fridge. The hotel didn't seem to have much sound proofing either as I didn't really get much sleep due to the amount of noise from other guests in the corridors. Word of warning the church across the way rings its bells at 7am as well. The shower was also only just big enough to turn around in and you could only use the loo sitting sideways as it was too close to the wall, To give some size perspective I'm a size 8, 5'3'' woman. Breakfast was lovely, the roof terrace was also lovely, staff were fab and the room was clean but just a little claustrophobic due to size. Overall a nice hotel but for the price I would go for something with bigger rooms and a fridge next time.

Very convenient to Colliseum. They did not put on air conditioning so had to open window which made it very noisy. Apart from that, good hotel.

Hotel is in a superb location and the staff were brilliant. The breakfast was the only thing that wasn't great just wasn't a lot of hot food on offer. Room was spot on. Certainly recommend.

"Perfect location!"
I recently stayed at the Hotel Tirreno on a solo trip to Rome. It is in an absolutely ideal location for sight seeing, whilst having the plus of being on a lovely little street, keeping it nice and quiet. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly upon arrival and checked me in very quickly. I stayed in room 102 which had everything I needed. It was rather small, but as a solo traveller this was no issue at all. It was perfectly clean and the air con was a big plus. The ONLY downside was the bed... I believe it must have been broken as made an awful noise at the slightest movement, dipped in the middle if you sat on it and the same if you sat up near the pillows. Unfortunately the noise was enough to cause a lot of disturbed sleep each night, which was a real shame. The breakfast was a simple continental, as advertised, with delicious breads and pastries. If you are staying in this hotel, a visit to Il Nipotino Del Solitario is a MUST! This restaurant is just a few doors down from the hotel and is just wonderful! It is a small family run place, with delicious food and lovely staff. The family feel to this restaurant hits you as soon as you arrive. The prices are extremely reasonable... I managed to have a 3 course meal with a jug of wine and a cappuccino, all for a mere €24! For another solo trip, I would certainly stay in this hotel again. It definitely played a part in making my trip to beautiful Rome unforgettable!
