"Classy full service hotel on main square"
If you are looking for a hotel that has all of the amenities of a fancy international chain, but in a 400 year old building and with a first class restaurant, you need look no further. Plus a great location within easy walking distance of everything this charming city has to offer! A very nice hotel and we were glad to stay here for a night, but not for those seeking adventure and more unique experiences.

"I can't say enough good things about this hotel."
After a long drive on highway 180 libre, stopping at every towns speedbumps (topes) and avoiding the Mexican suicidal dogs that trotted out in front of the car every other kilometer, we pulled into the beautiful front yard of the Hacienda Chichen Resort and Spa. While checking in a waiter brought us a cool refreshing green drink with a pineapple slice served in a wine glass. That instantly set the tone, and the stress of the road dissolved. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place. The rooms are well kept and clean cabins scattered amongst the botanical tropical forest that are the grounds to the hotel. Waking up to the cacophony of the birds of the forest was a treat. Just walking to the cabin was a delight in seeing the wide variety of the flora and fauna of the Yucatan, with the wonderful spicy scent that sometimes accompanies it. The service was some of the best I have ever experienced. The friendly staff was helpful and seemed genuinely nice. The restaurant was pricey but the food was excellent, and not having to leave the grounds made it worth the price. Our family of four did not have anything to eat that wasn't excellent in the 3 meals we had there. You can access Chichen Itza by a short walk. We were able to get there shortly after 8am when only a handful of people are there, before the tour buses arrive. After walking the awesome ruins, being able to swim in the large pool was a huge treat. In short, if your are going to Chichen you HAVE to stay here!

"Great place to stay close to chichen itza"
Overall we had a wonderful stay. In fact the staff help including in particular Miguel's help during our stay was invaluable. We had misplaced a bag in one of the pyramid locations and realised only after reaching the hotel late in the night. The hotel staff and Miguel with their personal efforts helped to track down the bag and get it back to us the next day. Otherwise our whole vacation would have been spoiled. The hotel breakfast was very good with peacocks and other birds walking around the tables. My children enjoyed feeding the birds. Similarly the kitchen staff were able to customize the menu for our vegetarian choices. We were struck by the honesty and enthusiasm of all the staff and people in Mayaland to serve the guests. We missed seeing the planetarium show due to our preoccupation with the lost bag. But have heard excellent things about the show. One thing though the hotel is a very old style colonial building with interior decoration reflecting those times. But we really enjoy that decor and setting so had no problems. The early morning bird calls from all the trees surrounding the place are a refreshing way to wake up. And the best part is that with the back entrance to the chichen itza ruins we can get a head start over the tour bus crowds and get some exclusive time in the ruins.
