Would love to go back

I booked a last-minute weekend trip to Boston and was impressed with what I found. The staff at Le Meridien was very friendly and helpful upon check-in and check-out. The decor of the lobby provided a warm and modern atmosphere suited well for the MIT/Harvard neighborhood. The contemporary decor flows well from the lobby, to the elevator, to the room itself. The room was extremely comfortable, particularly the king-size bed. The bathroom was certainly large enough, but needed a little bit more lighting. Wish I had time to check out the roof-top garden. The room service breakfast was a bit pricey, but having never ordered room service and being constrained by the checkout time, it was worth it. Le Meridien also happens to be in a vibrant, safe, and lively neighborhood. I wish I had planned to stay longer to attend the fall harvest festival in Harvard Square. Definitely worth another visit; can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip

Purchase a Charlie card for the T: Le Meridien is located a quick two-blocks from the T, which will bring you to and from any part of Boston within 3-7 minutes.

Really pleased with this hotel

We stayed for 4 nights in Aug and found it easy to get around to the T and local sights and restaurants. The way into the hotel from the garage was a bit confusing, but once we stepped into the hotel, all I can say is Wow. It was calm and pleasing to the eye. The room was good sized, not big, but the four of us managed. The refrigerator was stocked, if you wanted a fridge to store leftovers you need to ask for one and I believe it is available for an extra fee - that was the only disappointment.

Get a multiday T- pass and use the subway. Leave your car in the garage - it is relatively easy to get where you want with only a few blocks walk on either end.

Very satisfied

Excellent accommodations. The rooms were nicely decorated, the beds were extremely comfortable, the front desk staff was helpful and service at the bar (I think the bartender’s name was Michelle) was excellent.

Gone Downhill...

...Since it was the Hotel at MIT. Lots of the charming touches have disappeared under the new ownership. Now ho-hum. And maintenance was not at previous level. Our toilet was broken and we had to call maintenance to fix it. The problem should have been taken care of before check-in. All in all, just okay, no longer great.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are there over the weekend, you can probably find free on-street parking nearby and avoid paying the garage fee.

Great place to stay!

The Le Meridien was a perfect palce to stay during our trip. Absolutely can’t beat the quality of the hotels itself, location and convenience for the price. A very doable walk to the Redline T and lots of great restaraunts/bars close by. Staff was very professional and attentive as well. Would stay there again for sure!

Worth four stars!

An excellent hotel, in a building owned by MIT near the MIT campus, the MIT museum, and the Central Square T stop. The decor is "technical chic" and comes off very well. I didn’t use the hotel’s parking, but parked on the street nearby (it was a weekend stay).

We booked this hotel for 4th of July weekend and were very impressed the hotel’s standards of cleanliness and the high standards of furnishings. Staff were very helpful. Situated on a quiet street, but with many restaurants, coffee shops etc nearby. Walking distance to many places of interest.

will go back

Le Meridian Cambridge was not very impressive when we walked in. A friend had told us that it was a very mediocre hotel. The hallways always had a pungent smell and overall dont expect a five star ambience. However, the service was very good. We stayed for a week and they offered us an extra fridge and a microwave which was very useful. We never ate there as it was too expensive. The best part of this hotel is Star Market right next to it and Budget rentals on the ground floor. Mass Avenue is walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The staff were very courteous and ready to help. A bit pricey, but that’s how most hotels in Cambridge are. Would stay there next time too.

Just like airlines, each guest pays a different rate for similar rooms

It really bothered me that my colleague was staying in an identical room in the same floor and paying 50% less than what I was being charged, although he booked after I did. When I requested to have a similar rate I was told that it was no longer available.

Good value, good location, practical

When I think Meridien I think super frou-frou fancy. Not so here, but that’s ok. Good quality, clean, and great location for the MIT/Central Square area. Supermarket immediately adjacent to the hotel. Very nice.

A hidden gem in Cambridge

This is the third or fourth time I’ve stayed here over the past ten years. It is always bright and airy with good service. The front desk had some trouble checking us in on their computers, so in return they upgraded our room which was a nice gesture.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Nearby gardens and walking in the renovated MIT area are a plus.

Outstanding service and location

- Le Meridien is well placed within easy walking distance of Back Bay, MIT and Harvard. It is also 3 blocks away from the T (Boston Train service) - Grocery store next door which helps tremendously for the family vacation and those forgotten items - Several fantastic local restaurants within 10 minutes walking distance

Perfect location

This was a lovely place to spend a week visiting with a friend at MIT. A short walk to graduate student housing, a short walk to Mass Ave, a short walk to the T, and a grocery store in the smae building for fresh muffins and fruit each morning. We ate at a different location each night, walked to all and enjoyed; Thai, Indian, Irish pub food, all American hamburgers and establishment brewed beer (very good), and Italian. All fantastic!

Get a Cahrlie card and ride the "T" everywhere. We rode the "T" to the Museum of Art as well as downtown and out to Harvard. We even deciced to take the "T" out to the airport. It was so simple and fast!

Great stay!

Conveniently located near a T stop, Star Market and an Irish pub, our stay at Le Meridien was fabulous. The service was exceptional. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist us. The lounge was comfortable and the perfect place for a night cap. We will stay again in the future.

Optimal Quality/Price in Cambridge

We were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Le Meridien in Cambridge. The complimentary wifi, and the comfortable bed and good heating/air conditioning, were all ace. Ace quality for the price. You probably can’t get much better in Cambridge.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Do not reserve the tour packages beforehand, as possible bad weather, will make the tours pretty much useless.

A few friendly suggestions

I have a few suggestions: Under "special requests" in my Expedia order I wrote that I would like hard pillows. I received pillows that were as airy and insubstantial as bubbles. So I had to concoct my own firm pillow surface to sleep on each night (since the cleaning people would undo the day’s work each time they came): I would take all sheets not being used and cram them into a pillowcase, all this together making one good, hard pillow on which to sleep. I think hotels would do well to invest in some firm pillows for the majority of customers who prefer them to pillows that give no support at all to the head or neck. The hotel seemed to be crowding customers all onto the 8th floor alone. In theory that’s fine, if the hotel is overbooked, but it makes it difficult to sleep, with the children’s noises and movements and wakings and general shuffle of people in rooms right next to you. I kept thinking, "If, as seems to be the case, this hotel only has about 20 rooms being used currently, why do they put them all one next to the other so that they have to suffer for each other’s presence and overcrowding?" It was hard to sleep past 6:30 a.m. on two of the mornings because of the copious noise in adjoining rooms. Cleaning people were running the vacuum cleaner on the 8th floor at 8:45 a.m. When I woke up and put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out on the door handle they went away. I was just thinking, if they could give the time to other, more silent activities, maybe until 10 a.m.?
