Awesome Experience!

The hotel was comfortably furnished, clean and the location was great! Very close to the Navy Command, Walmart, Chili’s, McDonald’s, etc. They had a hospitality room stocked with an array of snacks & drinks using an "honor system" for payment. They also had a laundry room free of charge where we were able to do laundry before we left so unpacking was breeze when we returned home. We were very impressed with the room - a full size refrigerator, full kitchen with dishes, silverware, kitchen towels, paper towels, etc. This was the best place for our 4 day stay! Highly recommended!

Great stay for a graduates family

I flew in for my sons graduation and this hotel was a great place for me. Loved the kitchen...it had everything...and I stocked it from a Super Walmart right across the street. The Naval Base is approx. 3 miles away, restaurants are right there, shopping is right there for something quick...and they have videos to check out for staying indoors because that was what my graduate wanted to do...just relax and watch a movie..one down-fall was they gave me a smoking room after requesting a non-smoking...but I was able to open my window even from the third floor. Suggestion would be seperate floor for all smoking rooms...put them all together. Thanks

Phenomenal Room!

My husband is stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station and we stayed here and loved it! The rooms were great, and they had a kitchen that was open 24/7! The only thing that sucked was the service. All the front desk people were especially rude.

Great America Fun

I was very satisfies with the visit. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that I reserved the room as a suite with a let out bed. Upon checkout I was told that I was being charged an extra $20 a night be cause my room was upgraded to a suite. The clerk tried to argue with me stating that I needed to take my concerns up with Expedia. I told her no I was going to take them up with Candlewood and her. Then I showed her my Expedia confirmation that authenticated my room was already paid for and I was in the room that I orignially paid for and that no upgrade was necessary. Other than that I was satisfied and excited. I loved the fact that we were so close to Great America, downtown Chicago and only 8 miles from Wisconsin, and the kitchenette - WOW!! I look forward to returning to the area again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

By all means if you are planning to go to Great America this is a great place to stay. It has a Kitchenette and you can cook instead of dine out and spend more money. The economy is too rough to eat out everynite.

Navy BootCamp Graduation.

We stayed at the Candlewood for our sons Navy bootcamp graduation. The hotel is like 5 miles from the base and there is a Walmart, bowling ally, McDonalds, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s and a couple of other resturants right across the street. This area of Waukegan is clean and quiet.

not too bad

The hotel really wasn’t bad. The staff was great and the hotel was pretty clean for the most part, but when we arrived it was 1:30AM and the parking lot had alot of teenagers in it and since your close to the military base I guess everyone was staying there for the military graduation so the halls at 1:30AM wasn’t quiet and I mean you heard EVERYTHING. (The walls were really thin).
