OK if you need a bed near the airport

The bed was comfortable and the service was good. They offer "free computers" all over the lobby, but the connection was too slow to even print a boarding pass. The carpet needs to be removed throughout the property. It is the worst Westin that I personally have stayed in, but it does meet the Westin standards, so it is at least a decent property and probably better than most in the general vicinity. I was happy for the low price that I paid. Any other neighborhood in LA is going to have better restaurants and such in the area. I would only recommend this property if you need a bed near the airport and will be in and out quickly.

Good for the rate

FIrst time I´ve been to The Westin. It´s good for the rate when you´re willing to stay close to LAX airport. Good and clean room.

Good hotel convenient to LAX

The Westin is a modern, clean hotel located in close proximity to Los Angeles International. Despite being close to the airport, the rooms are still fairly quiet and I had no trouble at all getting to sleep. I needed to be close to the airport with a 6AM flight and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Awfull

I registered and was sent to the back of the hotel, thru an alley in the street oposite to Century Boulevard. A property inside walls, so awful I decided to leave without staying and moved to another hotel.

Better staying away of LAX area, for the hotels nearby (the low priced) seem to be all bad.

Nice Hotel, but. . .

This hotel service was fine, as was the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The hotel meeting rooms were also fine. However, I felt the restaurant and room service meals were pretty high. I am from Chicago and Dallas, so I wasn’t looking for something cheap, but I think I saw a hamburger for $12. Also, the wireless internet connection was quite slow and I kept losing it over and over. I was unable to access my one email account at all. And to top it off, when I got back, someone had ordered some gaming online using my credit card. I of course can’t prove anyone at the hotel accessed my computer in my room but I am suspicious.

declining...

While there are vestiges of four or five star glory, the Westin is in need of renovation. In particular, carpets were uniformly stained throughout the building. Further, I was unable to find a functioning ice machine on any of three floors I checked on. When I mentioned this at the desk, I was sent to the bar... there was no one in the bar. Help at the curbside allowed me to wrestle with my own luggage until I had moved it into the lobby at which time they offered help. I wasn’t unhappy, but I expected a bit more from the Westin chain.

There’re fast food places across the street and just down the block if you aren’t willing to pay exorbitant prices for the Westin dining room.

OK for Airport Hotel

Front desk was very nice, they even changed my room for me, I was there for 3 nights first room was right above busy 24 hour street, they moved me to the back of the Hotel. Need to clean carpets more often they were very dirty. Food was very pricey!!!!, and was only of average standard. Free shuttle to and from airport was a big plus.

Their is a trolley right out front that takes you to Beach cities, This was a big plus!!!!

The best hotel in LAX

The room is spacious and clean. Everything was wonderful. I would recommend everyone!

Ok hotel a little dated

The hotel was ok. I got upgraded to the top floor. I don’t think it made a difference. Bed was ok. Shower was not dual head. Half of the elevator were not working. Ice machine broken, had to go to another floor. Had to go 2 floors down to get a coke, almost worth it to pay the $4 for a coke in the room.

Not impressed

The hotel was ok. Very small swimming pool and very few lounge chairs. The carpets in the hall needed cleaned.

great deal, clean, most comfortable heavenly bed!

stayed for one night. it was an excellent deal, the most comfortable bed, very clean and very nice staff. would highly recommend for a comfortable and convenient stay right near LAX.

Consistancy is key

As always, the Westin chain is consistent. Rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is always accommodating. If you are looking for a scene, this is not the place and the surrounding area leaves something to be desired but the hotel is all about location. Close to the airport and expressways it makes getting around easy but for me, the business traveler it was perfect. I have stayed here before and will probably continue to do so.

Room condition

The room smelled like smoke. It was late at night and I had to wake up early the next morning so I didn’t change rooms, but the smoke stench bothered me all night. I should have changed.

quick stop over

Enjoyed our one night. Had dinner in the restaurant which very good and excellent service. Very comfortable bed and room. Quick pick up and drop off from the airport. Would go back.

Good one day hotel

We thought it was a good hotel for one day and for the price we paid. It is a very nice but not so well maitained hotel. We enjoyed our one day there. We had a nice view of planes arriving to the airport.

Okay for business

The room and ammenities were nice and accomodating for conducting business. One major exception would be that they do not offer free internet access, which would be a big plus for business travelers. We were worried that the proximity to the airport would mean a lot of noise from airplanes flying overhead, but it was not a problem for us. Of course, this location is convenient to the airport, several nice beaches and Hollywood. Overall, I would not say that it is a good value, but okay for business.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Manhattan Beach is close by. I would recommend it for anyone. Go in the morning and eat at the local favorite for breakfast "Uncle Bill’s Pancake House". Plan a wait of about 20- 30 minutes for a table.

Decent.

It was a good hotel however it could have been a bit better for the price. There was a dance convention in town. Even with 6 elevators (stayed on the 9th floor for preferred memembers)it took about 15 mins to get a elevator almost every time I needed one. The pool/jacuzzi area was the biggest disappointment. The area needs to be repaved. The room was quiet, comfy, and clean. The lobby was a good hangout spot late at night.

Very Nice Hotel

The stay was very pleasant. The only issue is that the room was so far away from the elevators. The elevators were being worked on and they were abit slow. The room we had was very nice with a terrace, just too far for an older person to have to walk to elevators. I highly recommend as a clean and safe hotel.

Count on a sleepless night

Run to the Sheraton Gateway but avoid the Westin. It is huge and overrun with people and noise. One side of the hotel faces a busy avenue. The other faces the jet ways of LAX. So you’re likely to hear street noise of airport noise all night long. This is a depressing airport hotel.

Free Airport Shuttle

This was a "red-eye" trip for me. In and Out in a 24 hour window, coming from the east coast. I was dreading the trip. The staff at the hotel was awesome and eased the burden of the trip. The free shuttle was very convenient (every 15 minutes-24 hours) and saved me a two day rental car hassle. Cabs were readily available (immediate, upon request) and the fare to Santa Monica was extremely fair. The food seemed pricey, but I am not familiar with LA ... so, it may have been fair. As a "road-warrior" business traveler, I have come to value a comfortable lounge and a witty sense of humor. I found both! Fair prices and the restaurant menu was available. I would recommend the LA Westin to all business travelers.

Do not hesitate to ask for the help of the staff. They are very accomidating, and made a potentially very bad trip, into a comfortable "red-eye". If you are feeling a bit of stress, share some time in the lounge ... they will get you smiling again!

A bit pricey

Convenience of locality. Hotel staff extremely friendly. Excessive pricing on parking, dining, and internet connectivity. Overall satisfied!
