Luxury hotel in the heart of Amsterdam

Stayed three nights in this hotel and it was a straight pleasure from check in to check out.
We travelled with a nine month old baby and the hotel staff were helpful in making everything as hassle free as possible. An example would be during check in: while we were checking in the receptionist called housekeeping on her own initiative to make sure the room was prepared for the stay with baby. Usually you have to ask for a cot to be placed in the room but she arranged it based on her own observation. Not a huge deal, but it's the small details that separate the good hotels from the great hotels.
The hotel breakfast was also a positive experience. The service and quality was outstanding. We had some of the best dining experiences of our trip with this breakfast buffet.
As to location, we used about 10 minutes to walk from the central station to the hotel and from the hotel all of downtown Amsterdam is easily available by foot.
We used hop on-of sightseeing busses and boats to reach places like the Banksy exhibition and the van Gogh museum which is not located downtown. We also used the city tram system which was easy, effective and stroller friendly.
