"I found the hotel was very handy with the 24 hour desk especially as flight was delayed and missed the last train to Lucca and had to get a taxi. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and airy. Would highly recommend"

"If you're looking for a place to stay to explore Lucca, this is an excellent choice. A clean and comfortable place just a 5 minutes walk from The Wall and great price. Be sure to confirm that breakfast is included at this B&B - ours was not."

Hotel Villa Casanova was one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany!
Everything about this place was special. The rooms are incredibly spacious, with a huge comfortable bed, huge shower, and enormous soaking tub. The attention to detail throughout the property is exceptional.
The views from the pool and our room balcony were stunning, overlooking the mountains and valleys of Tuscany. It was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the scenery.

Accommodations are lovely, comfortable, elegant, and quiet.
Located about 1/2 mile outside walled city that enters directly into the west gate. Easy flat walk passing pastry, pizza, and gelato shops along the way. The rooms are exquisitely decorated with modern amenities among antique furniture. Very modern bathroom fixtures and shower. The morning dining includes cookies, croissants, cakes, cereals, cheeses, meats and yogurts with eggs made on request. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace for...

Short walk to walled city, safe neighborhood but most of all fantastic staff. I have never seen a group of people that are so kind, helpful and willing to do anything for their customers. We had an incident that required an ambulance in the very early hours of the morning. The night desk shift manager took such good care of us, calling ambulance, explaining to us in English what was going to happen. The hotel even sent an English speaking employee to the hospital via bike to check on us and...

The hotel is located very near the autostrade and outside the walled city. Access is easy and direct. Staff were multi lingual and friendly. English was not a problem. Parking is free. Breakfast is served as a buffet and you do need to notify if you intend to partake. It is 13euros. There is a good variety, but it is the same every day. There is an espresso/coffee machine. Nothing available to order.
Amenities. There aren’t any (like fitness room or pool). There are meeting rooms up from the...

The best part of the hotel was the pool and landscape around the hotel. The food at the restaurant was ok. The only downside of our stay was the drunk British man who couldn't find his room and woke us up at 3 am by sticking his head through our bedroom window looking for his girlfriend.

Just had 24 hours to spend in Lucca. It was a great stay, the staff was very helpful from the moment we arrived. Franco, who took us to our room doubles as the hotel bartender at night. We enjoyed his company while we had a pre and post dinner aperitif. The hotel was perfectly located, easy access off the A11, shopping starts as you make a right out of the front door. The room was bigger than we expected, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful. Had a delicious and...

This is not a picture-postcard villa with glorious views in the heart of town. It's a super-clean, well-managed, airy, Best Western with free parking, helpful staff, good restaurant, free internet, and fine breakfast, 10 minutes by car from Lucca and a good jumping-off base for driving to other sites in the area. Good value for the money.

The staff couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. The property is so unique and we loved our loft room that had plenty of space for our family of 5. Highly recommend taking the bikes they have available to ride around the city. One of our trip highlights!

Lovely stay at Versilia Lido UNA Esperienze for 5 nights!
The property is spacious and has a relaxed resort atmosphere. We were kindly upgraded to a large one bedroom apartment with a dining area balcony, which gave us plenty of space and we cooked in the apartment almost 5 nights stayed.
One feature we really appreciated was the in room washing machine with a built-in dryer. When you are travelling for a longer period, having laundry facilities inside the apartment is incredibly convenient...

The best area to stay in Balbano is directly within the village of Balbano itself, particularly in accommodations that offer views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Balbano is a small, tranquil village located in the hills just west of Lucca. It's characterized by its rural setting, with vineyards, olive groves, and traditional Tuscan farmhouses defining the landscape. The village provides a peaceful retreat, away from busier urban centers, yet remains conveniently close to major attractions.
For couples seeking a romantic and quiet escape, Balbano is an excellent choice. The area offers opportunities for leisurely walks through the countryside, wine tasting at local vineyards, and enjoying authentic Tuscan cuisine in a relaxed setting. Many accommodations feature private terraces or gardens, superb for enjoying the sunset over the hills.
Travelers looking for a base to explore Tuscany will find Balbano convenient.
When is the best time to go to Balbano?
The best time to visit Balbano is during the shoulder seasons of late April to early June and September to October. These periods offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and the opportunity to experience Tuscany at its best.
During these months, the temperatures are mild, making it ideal for exploring the rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves surrounding Balbano. You'll find comfortable conditions for outdoor activities like cycling, hiking, or simply enjoying a leisurely walk through the countryside. The fewer tourists also mean a more relaxed experience at local wineries and restaurants.
For couples seeking a romantic getaway, these shoulder seasons provide an intimate setting. Imagine enjoying a sunset dinner on a terrace overlooking the Tuscan landscape without the bustling crowds of peak summer. The mild weather allows for comfortable exploration of nearby towns like Lucca and Pisa without the intense heat.
Travelers looking for a relaxed yet engaging experience will appreciate the balance these months offer. You can participate in grape harvests in the fall or enjoy the vibrant spring blossoms, providing a more authentic connection to the region's agricultural rhythm.
