A beautiful and functional central Texas hideaway with large outdoor deck

Fully renovated in winter 2022. Heron House has waterfront access to the Blanco River. Riverside firepit, a great outdoor deck with a cowboy pool, hot tub, chaise lounges, a shaded lounge area, outdoor games, luxurious linens, and spa-like bathrooms. Relaxation and Texas Hill Country charm. A short 5-minute drive to Blanco's downtown square, Heron House is also conveniently located, with easy access to all the shopping, dining, wineries/breweries/distilleries, and events that lovely Blanco has to offer. Johnson City, Fredericksburg, Wimberley, and Dripping Springs are nearby as is Blanco State Park, Pedernales Falls State Park, and the Hill Country Lavender Farm.

4th of July Weekend

Great property with all the amenities of home! Weekend was a rainout and we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor amenities but the home was comfy and cozy. Thankfully there were great restaurants nearby.

Beautiful retreat on the river

From the minute that we entered The Heron House, we were sure by subtle beauty and country elegance. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked. We literally spent hours on the back deck observing wildlife. At dusk, the fireflies rose up from the wooded area and sparkled in the air. It was a lovely stay, and I would definitely stay there again.

Family weekend

We enjoyed our stay in Blanco. Great location! I had a wedding to attend in Dripping Springs and it was a short drive to the venue. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool and the outside green area.

Pleasant Weekend in Blanco

The house, accommodations and grounds were as advertised. We really enjoyed the evenings on the deck grilling steaks, listening to music and enjoying a beverage. The lighting bug show on the grounds at sundown was an unexpected wonderful addition.

Perfect House Parfect Location

This house is beautifully furnished, and has with comfortable beds. The deck has great seating and dining options. The location couldn’t be better for exploring the towns all around the Hill Country. I would definitely stay at this property again and will recommend it to my friends.

Wonderful spot on the river (stream?)

We came with some of our family to visit the cemetery and gravesides of our loved ones gone on before us. The added joy of staying at Herron House that was similar to my parents home when we lived there was very special. We had everything the 6 of us needed to cook and enjoyed the deck and jacuzzi. My husband, son and grandson enjoyed evening talks down close to the river. Thanks so much for sharing Heron House with us!

Tranquil getaway

This was our second time to stayed at the Heron House in Blanco and it did not disappoint. Even with what seemed like non-stop rain the property is beautiful and comfortable. We still enjoyed the view of the river sitting at the table. We were able to relax in a clean well appointed home. The location makes it easy to take day trip excursions easily like shopping in Wimberly and Fredericksburg . The property owners responded to any questions or concerns quickly. Looking forward to another hideaway getaway.

A Perfect Slice of Paradise – We Didn't Want to Leave!

Our recent stay at this beautiful home was nothing short of extraordinary. Every detail, from the thoughtfully chosen fixtures to the stunning decor, exuded comfort and elegance. Bridal Shower Bliss

Some friends and I hosted a small bridal shower here and it was beautiful!! Exactly like the photos! The only things that were kind of a bother were that guest toilet was broken and that there a bunch of bugs that would fly in any time you opened the door. The host offered to come fix the toilet, however since it was in the middle of the bridal shower we just left it be. Otherwise, it was beautiful! Highly recommend!

Beautiful home outside downtown Blanco

The house is beautiful! The beds are very soft with thick foam mattress toppers, the water pressure is good, and the hot water very hot. The view of the river is nice, the yard was a bit overgrown with no path to the water so we did get some chigger bites and sticker burrs on our walk down to the river. The river was a bit stagnant and algae-ridden where we had access to so we did not get in the river. The cowboy pool on the back deck was nice in the evenings for sunset. The kitchen was big and had most of what we needed to make dinner and breakfasts. We loved the record player and selection of records at the home!

Amazing home, hosts and proximity!

This is a very hard review to write! We want this to be our little secret gem all to ourselves, but Sarah and Paul deserve a lot of guests! The hosts were amazing, treated us better than our own family does when we visit. Definitely made you feel like kings and queens! The house is gorgeous, every little detail has been thought out! Just amazed at the decorations, the cleanliness, and the comfort of our stay. The beds are comfortable, linens are amazing and towels are even better! The deck although it rained is beautiful and we watched deer at the river from the kitchen. We left to head home with a definite plan to return! Thank you so much, excellent job!

Well Provisioned Country Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend outside Blanco. The space was perfect for the five of us (1 child and 4 adults), and we really enjoyed the first cool weekend of the season outside, both at nearby parks and out on the back patio. This was also probably the most well provisioned VRBO we've stayed in, with plenty of the necessities, plus some extras, like spa supplies (masks, shower and bath goodies and even slippers!), k cups, snacks, etc. Everything was clean and well maintained, and obviously recently renovated. The bedrooms are isolated from each other, and the back patio was quite large, with plenty of seating. We also enjoyed the hot tub and cowboy pool, the grill and the fire pit. We were a little surprised how much traffic the road got, but the house was set back far enough that it wasn't a problem at all. Would definitely recommend it!

Amazing retreat for a family or couple looking for peace of mind

When you see the published pictures your first thought is that they were photoshopped, they are not at all! It’s a nice house, only a few miles from Blanco, Tx. This is a very small community at the Hill Country, 20 to 45 minutes from several rivers, lakes, etc. There is a gas station, a supermarket, hardware store, bbq restaurant, gelato store, etc. everything we would need during our 8 night stay. Everything at the house is top notch, the AC is good even when outside temp is around 105, the bedding is very good quality, the house is fully stocked with toiletries, some snacks, many clean towels, even the first aid kit is complete (we used it actually). The inside areas are all well illuminated during day and night, the Internet access is good (I had some video calls and we certainly used the WiFi a lot), the deck area has a hot tub, a cowboy pool, gas grill, some furniture, etc. The owner kept in touch the whole stay, always answering any question we might have. I wouldn’t complain about anything, the house is better than you can appreciate from the pictures, the owners were wonderful, we really loved our family vacation. If someone would date to complain is only about the fact that the river is basically nonexistent as there is a severe drought since 2023… Also, the outdoor areas are filled with mosquitoes and everything God created during summer, we didn’t let it bother us but this house is not for people who doesn’t love to be outdoors because it’s basically a

Gorgeous home in great location!

Owners were great at communicating and working through a few hick ups with the check in email. Had one thing that was broken at the house which was dishwasher. They stayed in good communication. Sadly a person could not get out while we were there. The house is gorgeous and has a great location. Needs a few maintenance things around the property, but no big deal. We will definitely be back!

Great Find in Hill Country!

House was beautiful and very private! Great patio with shaded couches, lounge chairs, dining table, BBQ grill, plunge pool, hot tub, and gas fire pit. Large turf area for outdoor games! Nice House

It’s a very nice and clean house. It’s very easy to communicate with the owner if you have any questions. The way to the second fire pit by the river has a walkway so you’re not walking through the grass which is really nice. Would recommend staying here!

Great Place to Stay

The privacy and the view from the back deck is just so relaxing! The hot tub and fire pit allow you to enjoy the cooler weather outside! The house is clean and very nice! The location is great for the local wineries and distilleries!

The Heron House was absolutely perfect in every way. Clean, comfortable, beautiful, and the owners thought of every little thing one might need while traveling. The fixtures and decor were very high end, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The kids enjoyed the cowboy pool and all the lawn games (axe throwing and corn hole). We enjoyed watching a family of deer walking by the river in the mornings and in the evenings, and at night the stars are bright and lightning bugs can be seen in the woods. The drive into town is a short 5 minutes, but our favorite cafe was a little further out on hwy 165 (Rio Blanco Cafe, right next to Tillman Resort). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Blanco and look forward to returning to the Hill Country soon.
