The staff were incredible. There was a slight problem with the water (it wasn’t their fault) and they were quick to find a solution for my wife & I. The location was peaceful and quiet which we loved! We’ve been to a couple hotels in Bacalar, but this is definitely our new favorite! We will be back!

We had an amazing stay at Boca de Agua. Caesar, the activities guide, was incredible. After booking the sunrise kayak tour with him on our first day, we booked a different activity with him every day.

We decided to extend our stay for one more night. The hotel’s architecture is breathtaking—a true masterpiece that seamlessly blends luxury, comfort, and the immersive experience of living in the jungle. We especially enjoyed the breakfast menu, which features a rich variety of flavors and local ingredients. Every detail in the room design and amenities reflects thoughtful craftsmanship and is perfectly integrated into the overall aesthetic. The elevated walkway leading to the lagoon is an incredible idea, allowing access while preserving the ecosystem and minimizing disturbance to the local flora and fauna. The hotel also has a private dock that connects directly to the lagoon. We loved how secluded it felt—it offers a peaceful space to swim, sunbathe, and relax. There's even a shaded area by the water where you can retreat from the sun and unwind in comfort.

So incredibly stunning. Great place to slow down and enjoy nature. The lagoon is so special and serene. The hotel has kayaks and paddle boards readily available to use at no additional cost. Take a quick kayak out to the lagoon and feel so refreshed. Food was very good. I just wish they had an indoor restaurant at night.

Definitly a great stay!

A unique stay in Bacalar, definitely worth it. Away from the town, nestled in the serene jungle without distractions and crystal clear water down at the lagoon. We took a tour from Bacalar itself on a sailboat, however nice it was we’d probably choose to just stay at the hotel next time - the grounds really are that beautiful. Good to know that wifi is a bit unstable (we hade some issues when trying to pay our taxidriver).

Pros: Staff were very nice and helpful whenever asked. All employees went out of their way to assist us. The lagoon area was picturesque and serene. Food was generally good. Cons: Hotel is very expensive by local standards (equivalent or better hotels in the area are less than half the cost). Getting to the hotel requires a long drive from the highway on a poorly paved road and any transportation in or out of the hotel to the nearest town was $500 MXN each way so you were somewhat stranded at the resort. Food options at the resort were very expensive compared to local restaurants. No fitness center. Summary: Pretty hotel with good service but very overpriced (both for the room and for any food purchased) and isolated (expensive to leave the resort).

El hotel está precioso y las instalaciones son muy cómodas. Sin embargo el servicio es malo porque el personal no es suficiente para lo grande que es el hotel. Las actividades que “están incluidas” en el hotel son falsas no las hacen. De los platillos del menú hay varios que no tienen disponibles.

Great ecological hotel in the middle of the jungle. Access to a very swimmable portion of the Bacalar lagoon. Great food. Great environment with lots of natural habitat. A very exciting experience. A must do in Bacalar for those that enjoy nature, wild monkeys, birds, etc. We will come back for sure!

100/10 stay. If you’re looking to do nothing but relax this is the spot for you. The villas are surrounded by nature (bring bug replant) but the bedroom has AC that gives you a break from the humidity. Absolutely stunning hotel with incredibly kind and helpful staff. Food was spectacular as well. If you want to leave (though why would you) the town is only a 18 min drive. The hotel has private lagoon access and kayaks available to use to explore the lagoon as far as you’d like. The villa has its own pool (if you choose that room) and the outdoor rain shower is fantastic. I cannot recommend Boca de Agua enough!

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The property appeared neglected and almost abandoned, with rooms in extremely poor condition and far below what was advertised online. The hotel had a severe mosquito and insect infestation that made it impossible to enjoy the property. My family was constantly bitten, including my son, and we even found insects in the room and on the beds. The situation was not only uncomfortable but also a serious health and safety concern. Throughout our stay, we experienced repeated power outages, no reliable hot water, poor maintenance, and a severe lack of staff available to assist guests. The food was disappointing, with very limited quality and service. Nothing about this hotel matched the photos or descriptions used to market the property. Between the unsafe conditions, insect infestation, electrical issues, lack of cleanliness, and poor service, our stay was completely unacceptable. I would strongly discourage anyone from booking this hotel until these serious health, safety, and maintenance issues are addressed.
