Thankfully there are plenty of food options right outside the door. The TV wouldn’t connect to the hotel’s WIFI, and there was no one at the front desk to ask for help. The shower also wasn’t draining properly, so we had to stand in a pool of water while we showered. The record player also didn’t work properly. Any time we needed front staff beyond checking in, no one was there despite being told there would be. Oh yeah, and we woke up in the middle of the night to the loudest train noises!! It literally sounded like we were on top of the train. The decor is awesome and the staff were friendly and courteous. That being said, if you want to sleep, never ever stay in the Little Mod Hotel. The proximity to University of Virginia is perfect for visiting the campus on foot but you are so close to the action it’s impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The music from the bars was banging in our room till 2 am. I’m not talking background noise. I heard every word of every song. When that noise subsided I got a solid hour of sleep before I was awakened by what I thought was a foreign invasion but what ended up being a freight train roaring past. It feels like you are standing on a train platform is is so close. The window to the room shook every time one of the cars passed. The train must have been a mile long because it shook our room for about 25 minutes.
