"We booked a stay at the New Hôtel Gare du Nord but on arrival were told we were to be lodged in a hotel around the corner: the Hotel Richmond. The rooms were tiny and did not have a fridge. The air-conditioner was controlled by the front desk staff, so we couldn't switch it from heating to cooling without dealing with the front desk, and they found it difficult to make the change without multiple attempts and a reboot of their system. The front desk withheld our room cards when we left the hotel, but were lax in checking details when we returned. I got the feeling that anyone would wander in, give a random room number, and be given the door card for the room. My daughter left some personal items in the room, and when I contacted the hotel about this, they ignored any messages through Expedia and elsewhere. I would not recommend this hotel."

"The location is great, central and super close to the train station, where you can access all of the landmarks and sights within Paris. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Lift is very tiny if you’re claustrophobic. Hot water in the shower can burn you coz it has a very uneven temperature. And the shower is so small for an average person, you can hit your elbows in the enclosement."

"More like a hostel than an upmarket hotel. Basic wooden bed, cheap noisy tin headboard and inadequate wardrobe with coarse, crumpled bedding. Only cheap soap so no hair conditioner.Handles kept dropping off taps and doors despite reporting it. So called free snacks of local artisanal food consisted of some carrot sticks, a slice of cheap ham and a few broken biscuits with water or coffee. Really slow check in. Location is convenient for travellers but a really sleazy area unsafe at night. Wifi good and housekeeping excellent however."
