“Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay ”

“The Grand Hotel is a historic property with excellent staff and great food, and it's very handy if you're travelling by rail to or from the adjacent Torquay station. The recent renovation of the indoor pool, changing rooms and spa facilities was long overdue and provides a now clean and welcoming experience, although the arrangement remains sub-optimal from a hygiene perspective with guests and staff having to walk poolside wearing shoes to access the changing rooms. “Lovely, spacious rooms, environment considered (no silly plastic cups/shower caps). I saw the pool and jacuzzi water being tested twice whilst we were there. Only thing was that we had to pay for parking, but that was because we booked with a third party. Book with hotel. Breakfast lovely, maybe a few more pastry/bread choices needed.”

“The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was amazing, the view was gorgeous and the location is perfect. I suggest if you need hypoallergenic bedding that you request at the time of reserving, it’s not standard to have it included in the room.”

“Property location is great with free transport to Salcombe town or Ferry from beach adjacent to hotel. Hotel room/accommodation had great view but was small. This was disappointing when considering the tariff for two rooms /4 nights accommodation. The bedroom lacked soundproofing, disturbed nights sleep for three nights due to noise from young children in next room, spoke to receptionist with little response! Continental/Buffet Breakfast included was very satisfactory and good. Restaurant, bar……

“Large clean room with sofa bed and a double bed. Small fridge and hairdryer. Large bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Shower floods bathroom everytime due to not having a door/screen to floor meaning you have to use 3 towels on floor to stop this, bad design in my opinion. Breakfast was your normal buffet restaurant, nit a lot of gluten free options avaliable, asked for some gluten free bread and was handed one small slice. Hotel close to beach, and town so great location. Not enough parking……

“Great location for the South Coast Path. Bus stop to Torquay and Shaldon 3 minutes walk away. Very helpful staff. Room basic but clean with tea and coffee. Main village and cliff top with pubs a five minute walk. Easy to park in side streets even in August.”

“Only issue that I can mention was the fact there was no one at the pool reception when we went for our first swim. A guest had to show me how to access. Consequently I went into the members changing room then when I eventually spoke to a girl she informed me I should not be there but to go to the other changing room. Had to ask for a tag. 2nd day no problem and helpful staff. Breakfast amazing It was my birthday and they gave me a little gift. Will definitely be going back”

“located in the small downtown Lyme Regis, easy to go to the beach, shops and restaurants it is an very old inn, very tradition english wooden building, downstair is the bar and restaurant, a bit oily smell, beware of no air-con”
