"Great location of hotel to the old town. Bus route right outside the front doors. Excellent range of choices for breakfast. Extremely friendly and helpful staff on reception and throughout the hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Daily housekeeping. Great spa - Finnish Sauna and Steam Room open until 11pm. Massage treatments available, although I did not use. Equipped gym also open to guests. Nice public bar as you enter the hotel. All good, no complaints. This is the second time I have stayed in the Falkensteiner Bratislava, and I would happily return. "

Slovakia is also home to some of Europe’s most charming castles. Bojnice Castle was reconstructed during the 19th century and now includes a museum and adjoining zoo. Stara Lubovna Castle dates back to the 13th century and sits atop a hill overlooking the peaceful countryside. Cachtice Castle, which now stands in ruins, was once the home of a ruthless countess who was known to systematically execute peasant women. Spis Castle is one of the largest castles in Slovakia and it suffered extensive damage during a major fire in the 18th century.
