Great hotel in the middle of downtown East Lansing

Posted Oct 3, 2017
Pros: Location, staff, room---the whole facility was excellent
Location: Across the street from Bdub's and a block away from HopCat as well as the other local bars.
I went to school at MSU and have always wanted to stay here if I came back as an alumni, so I was excited to book this for our recent reunion weekend. The location alone is worth it--within walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars, even to the football game and tailgate on campus! The room was great, very clean and spacious. The staff was very accommodating--bringing us bottled water within minutes of calling. Our room came with a free breakfast buffet for both mornings we were there and the food was great (not a huge selection but what was there was all delicious). The only slight downfall was no free wifi and no fridge in the room, but those weren't deal breakers.

It must be about the location

Pros: Bed and Bistro are the highlights.
Cons: Facilities maintenance and explanation of the parking process.
Location: You're right smack in the middle of Michigan State University so that's the draw. East Lansing is a great college town.
Marriott hotels have been by and large excellent places to stay. I've stayed at many of them (platinum) and always been pleased with the stay. Given the price point of this location, a couple of issues were surprising. First, they gave me a "handicap" room with a stool in the shower. The anchor bolts that hold the stool to the wall were pulled out and when I sat the shampoo bottle on the stool, it fell off the wall and crashed onto the floor baring missing my feet. The stool does not support itself and requires the anchor bolts to hold it in place. Nothing quite like trying to reinstall four bolts in a wall standing in a running shower. Someone know this was an issue because they put it back in place. Customer or hotel staff, either way, not cool if someone who relied on it for support actually sat on it. A real safety issue! Secondly, the parking is unique and the explanation at the desk was super confusing. Once I figured it out, there must be a much more simple explanation that can be used to inform the customer about the process. It's a revolving ticket system with the customer holding onto one voucher ticket for the entire stay while the in/out ticket gets discarded on each exit. Use a highlighter or something to identify the voucher from the in/out ticket. Positives are the staff at the Bistro and the bar in the lobby. They were excellent.

Pros: Updated
Cons: Parking
Location: Good by me
All was good and I will stay again. One thing I would like to see is that there is free parking for the guests. Other than that it was goods

Not indicative or the Marriott Brand

Pros: Location
Cons: Parking process is atrocious. They use a city garage but the process of using paper vouchers is confusing and at times did not work. WiFi is pay only
Staff was more interested in chit chat than helping a guest check in.
