"Our room was big & comfortable"

"This could have been so much better but did not live up to its promise. We really wanted to love it! It is priced too high considering nearly everything was “closed for the season”. We would have been better off just staying in a cheaper basic hotel. Pools closed, restaurants closed, bars closed. There was a nightly resort fee - but what did that get us when nearly everything in the resort was closed? They also charged for basic things which most more affordable hotels provide free - like bottled water or coffee. The condition of the property was decent but definitely showing a lot of wear and tear. Carpets are threadbare, stained and shaggy, and coming up off steps in most places. The windows in our room had condensation in-between the panes and were hard to see out of. Things like that… It was clean and staff was friendly. The one restaurant they had open was decent but not amazing. They did make good stiff drinks. The property itself is amazing - and it’s such an iconic resort with a cool history, I hope the new owners start putting some money into it. The location is kind of isolated, which made having all the stuff closed all the more annoying. Also - be aware, the large conference facilities mean that there can be large groups there. Our stay included Fraternity/Sorority groups one week and High school kids a different week. They were mostly in other buildings - but were generally partying all over the place."

"The staff all seemed friendly but the place was filthy. We skipped the breakfast based on the fact we didn’t think they washed their dishes enough to be sanitary. The wall behind the bathroom door had human poo on it, and the water wasn’t warm. "

"The owner was super easy to work with and very friendly! I couldn't recommend booking through them more! This is the second time our group has come to this place, and each time has been full of positive remarks about the location and house itself. So many amenities and overall such a great experience being at the Lighthouse and working with the owner during booking and after!"

"Beautiful views! Beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub and patio were definite favorites! Just a very peaceful and laid back home. It was truly a wonderful space to enjoy our time with family. "

"We have found Red Roof Inns to be reliably clean, safe, and comfortable hotels. We were disappointed with this property. It had ratings of 8.4 out of ten so we expected it to be above average. The staff was couorteous and helpful. The indoor pool was fun and relaxing. The roll-in shower was great. The staff was also apologetic. We arrived before peak season and were told that the location would be repairing broken items. Several much needed repairs were obvious. The room HVAC units were missing the "fan" only mode. The one in our room was very loud and constanty turned on and off disturbing our sleep. Breakfast is usually a bright spot at Red Roof Inns, but we found items to be stale, bland, or missing. The milk was empty, and it took some time to find someone to bring a new carton. Coffee was poor, tea not existant, and the hot water spigot was barely flowing. Overall, the property felt damp. Flooring was coming up. I hope the repairs and upgrades for peak season are made quickly to be up to Red Roof Inn standards and its online rating."
