The property needs an update especially the room. No matter how much a housekeeper cleans, you can’t clean old. Everything in the rooms needed updating even, the mirror in the bathroom were corroded which I assume would be from the exposure to salt water. Simple things like replacing a mirror or paint would go along way in the appearance of the rooms. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and very well maintained from the pools to the gardens.

We had a wonderful trip to Costa Rica, the palace grounds were absolutely beautiful. Getting ENGAGED on the gorgeous beach was definitely a highlight! We met so many wonderful people! The staff were very kind, always saying hello and constantly cleaning all around the resort! I really questioned the negative reviews after our stay!? Any trip is really what you make it!! Pura Vida!!

Everything was so lovely. From the way we were greeted, to the dining options, the staff, and the beach, my husband and 2 year old had a wonderful stay. In the future it would be nice to have USB outlets in the rooms, but the amount of regular outlets was plenty.

Let me start by saying that Chris who worked at the Lobby Bar, was very, very, welcoming, jovial and charming, as well as Richard, who worked the pool area bar. They both deserve a raise and a promotion. Mine and my family’s 10 day stay, was a smidge above horrible. There was no hospitality. The staff was not welcoming at all. Not even in passing. The liquor was watered down. The decor left a lot to be desired. There was only one towel a day in the room. The room smelled like mildew. There was not enough light in the shower area. The television did not work and took maintenance 3 days to come fix it. Only 1 ice machine in the entire resort worked. As a black family we experience racism at the resort. A curfew was needed for children. We could not get seats to see the show because all the children was aleep in the seats. We saw rats running through the bushes near the pools. There were so many bees around the pool. As soon as you got a drink the bees flocked to you. I understand that the bees are attracted to sweetness of the beverages, but the staff should retrieve the empty cups more frequently that they do. I will not be recommending this resort to anyone nor will I stay here again.

Here in July, and let me start by saying that our concerns about being here in "wet season" were unfounded. Only 1 day of 8 had any rain during the sunlight hours that kept us from running around outside. Overall, for the hotel itself, we found that the staff were very helpful and accomodating. We had multiple interractions with the front desk, for example, and were always able to just walk right up and get any questions resolved. One minor maintenance issue was fixed within 20 minutes, too. The food options were excellent. Main buffet was excellent overall (not 5-star but lotsa options and good quality), and the speciatly restaurants were overall good - the Japanese one was worthy of 5 stars, the Italian only 3 stars, the other 2 4 stars... Beach is pretty nice - fun, calm waters to play in a bit. and a great/uncrowded for strolling. No complains. Only real down-sides were: 1. The availability of chairs around the pool. While there are a ton of them, if the resort is pretty full like when we were there, getting a prime spot requires staking out a spot by 8 am, and ANY spot by 9:30ish. It sould be nice if they published some sort of policy, and enfirced it, for staking out spots and not returning for, say, 2 hours... 2. The open hallways coupled with the unlimited booze caused wakeups several nights as very loud/arguing drunks shouted outside - probably heard throughout the entire wing. And, seemed in at least one instance Security let it go on for about 30 minutes...

Stay AWAY from this place . Where should I start? The staff were very rude, and the rooms are extremely run-down. Instead of fixing things properly, the maintenance team just paints over them. The rooms smelled like mold, and when I requested to switch rooms due to my kids and I having asthma, I was told, "all rooms smell like this." Our TV didn’t work, and I was informed, "sorry, we can’t fix it, it needs to be replaced." Additionally, our door was so painted over that we had to literally kick it to open. It was a safety hazard since my kids couldn’t open it, and it took a lot of force to open it, but unfortunately, it was another issue that the hotel couldn’t address. The food was okay with a lot of variety, but nothing special. Drinks were very cheap, even the juices. On the positive side, the entertainment was really good. We enjoyed all the shows, and my kids especially loved Riuland. The grounds were beautiful! We asked for a late checkout as our flight was delayed and were told it would be $25 per person per hour. Additionally, there's a photographer on the property whose photos were of great quality, though they charge $15 per photo. In summary, while the entertainment and grounds were enjoyable, the poor condition of the rooms, unhelpful staff, and additional fees left us very disappointed with our stay.

Beautiful view (exterior only). No greetin from anyone or guidance as to how to check-in. The check-in line was very disorganized. They made us wait 2 hours while our bags were already handed over and it was beyond hot in the waiting area (lobby). Everyone was nice but it was not fun. They did explain where everything was, which helped. The room was very outdated. The sheets were clean but the blankets were old and dirty with stains. The food across the board in most restaurants was very good and fresh. The hotel for the most part was kept clean daily, which is a big plus. The shows were very nice and organized. The white party was superb and a delight to attend to. The checkout process was odd as they did not let us leave until the wristbands were cut off. BIG issue, there is no hotel transportation UNLESS you choose a third party which charges between US70-100 dollars from the hotel to the airport. There is also a team that takes pictures of you in the events and pool BUT the prices are ridiculous - $15 PER picture! Overall, the food is great but the prices for everything else are horrific. The hotel needs to have newer blankets and more of an updated structure and rooms. For the money you pay, there should have been newer rooms and better/new blankets. The 4 pools are pretty cool and clean, by the way. The beach area is not my favorite --- They have a lot of people trying to sell you everything and it is uncomfortable. The beach is dark-colored sand. I will not be back.

The property was very nice, I loved all the different pools. It made me feel good that the pools were constantly being cleaned. The Best Part The Staff!!!! I travel a lot and I was impressed on how attentive the staff are around the pool area and during the shows, we always found someone to bring us a drinks. I enjoyed the water park, I also enjoyed that we were able to visit the other RIU. I did not however enjoy the beach or the food that much. Food is not terriable but it's not the best.
