Immaculate Waterfront Cottage - Activities Galore for the Entire Family

Welcome to our cabin! Our home is a cozy and comfortable retreat on a small New Hampshire Lake. Our bright and airy waterfront cottage has three living spaces, an open kitchen and expansive outdoor spaces. It is the perfect get away in any season.

Spring days are longer, the fish are biting, and it is a great time to enjoy a paddle or a local hike. Bring your bike or use one of ours and take a ride on the 58-mile Northern Rail Trail taking in all the sites along the way. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy an evening campfire while listening to the frogs announce that spring has arrived.

In summer the pristine pond is ideal for swimming, jumping off the dock or just floating on our water toys. We have a canoe, two kayaks and a paddle board to help you explore the lake. Relax in the hammock or on the shore to take in the views of the lake. The perfect end to a summer day is dinner served on the deck overlooking the lake or on the one-of-a-kind floating picnic table.

Spend fall days hiking to the top of a local mountain to view the foliage, visiting an apple orchard to pick some fresh fruit or just paddling around on the lake in one of our kayaks to experience the fabulous fall colors. Stop at a farmers market or farm stand and pick up all the fixings to make dinner in the fully stocked kitchen that over looks the lake. After dinner relax by the indoor fireplace or build a campfire and enjoy some freshly roasted s'mores

In the winter strap on a pair of our snow shoes and go for a walk or jump in our snow tube and slide down our hill onto the lake. If you are a downhill skier, you will find three local ski hills about 15 miles from the house. Relaxing by the fire playing games or sipping a cocktail is the perfect way to end any winter day.

Perfection!
This was our second stay and Mary was wonderful! Every little detail was thought of...crisp, clean sheets and towels, super comfy beds, and pretty much anything a family of 5 could think of needing. Took a sunset kayak ride and enjoyed the super clean lake. Photos don't do it justice, truly beautiful! Great kitchen for cooks :)

The cottage was perfect for our getaway! The description is just like Mary provided and the cottage was well supplied and very clean. We enjoyed using the canoe and kayak and swimming in the lake. The unexpected surprise was occasionally hearing the beautiful sounds of the loons across the lake- it was truly a unique experience for us all.

This is all the more special as the owners have made available all the equipment to make the best of the waterfront setting - kayaks, canoe, fishing rods, fire pit etc. They were also super responsive to queries. Quiet Cottage on the Pond
Nestled deep in the woods, we found a very cozy cottage. We arrived late in the evening and didn't realize how amazing the cottage and land were until we woke up! The cottage is on the most beautiful pond! It is truly breath taking! The pictures on VRBO do not do it justice! The house had everything we needed or wanted on the inside and out! We had a relative in the hospital, so we were not able to enjoy the cottage as much as we would have liked (and it rained the few afternoons we were there). We were able to take the canoe out one evening and it was amazing! There was a strange animal in the water with us. The neighbor heard us asking about it and yelled it was a beaver. A beaver! We are from New Mexico and have never come across a beaver (he wasn't happy we were in the water with him. It was quite comical)! I think we made the neighbors night with our out bursts! You could also hear a chorus of frogs singing every night! The cottage itself was very clean and felt like someone from HGTV had come and decorated it! If you were going to be cooking meals, the kitchen is supplied with everything you would need. There was also enough necessities, we never ran out. We had to contact the owners once and had a reply within minutes. I was with my 2 sisters and elderly mother. It was easily accessible for all of us. Given the chance, we would have stayed a few more days (weeks, months, years)! We hope we can come again!

A little pice of heaven
Omg, This booking far exceeded our expectations. It was exactly what we hoped for, to allow our family to have quality time together while enjoying privacy at the lakeside. The cottage itself was immaculate and so tastefully decorated. We loved how connected to nature it was, with so much thought given into providing every detail in order for us to relax and have fun. The setting is gorgeous, so much so I kept burning my pancakes. I didn't want to miss looking at the view! My daughter particularly enjoyed the nature books/artwork as an aspiring biology researcher. We will have these memories forever now. Thank you. Also, we would love to come back some day if you would have us.

Perfect in every way!
We booked this cabin last minute as our original VRBO further up north had a plumbing issue and became unavailable less than 24 hours before we were scheduled to arrive. We found this cabin, which was further south than we were planning to stay, but it looked so perfect that we booked it anyway. We were SO GLAD we did!! We felt bad booking last minute, but Mary actually had the place ready early for us, which was amazing because we had time to get right out onto the lake in the kayaks and enjoy a beautiful afternoon! The minute we arrived, we both decided that the change of plans was a blessing in disguise. First of all, this place was not just clean - it was immaculate!! The layout of the cabin is great and it's very nicely decorated. The view of the lake from all three levels of the house was beautiful. We loved watching the family of loons who cruised back and forth past the house all weekend. We took the kayaks out 3 or 4 times during our stay. The lake is small enough to be quiet, but big enough that a paddle around it is close to 3 miles round trip. We ate every meal on the deck overlooking the lake. At night we took advantage of having a glass of wine out by the fire pit, watching the stars and listening for the owls. There were lots of good hiking trails nearby, as well as the Northern Rail Trail, which was great for us since we had our mountain bikes with us. I could go on and on about how great this place is, but I'll sum it up by saying that my husband and I totally fell in love with this lakeside cabin and we would love to book it again in the future. Mary - you are a wonderful host and we thank you for sharing your amazing home with us!!

Beautiful Getaway
Our first impression was how immaculate the cabin was kept. We had the feeling no one had been there before us. Then the setting took our breath away. Everything we needed was available in the cabin. There was a lovely card and welcoming gifts waiting for us on the counter. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone who enjoys getting away on a quiet, beautiful, pond, in a gorgeous cabin with all the amenities for a fun filled vacation. Debbie & Bob

Perfection on the Pond!
Wonderful house, immaculate inside and out!! Comfortable beds, every amenity, so many little details taken care of. Our 3 kids ages 12 and 9 had a blast in the kayaks and paddle board and on the dock, the pond is very clean and small enough to be able to give them space to explore without worry. Super quiet and peaceful, just the loons and the squirrels :) Mary was a fantastic host, super responsive and had everything we could possibly want or need, including water shoes, fans, tons of kids games and activities, fishing poles, bikes, beautiful furnishings and tons of towels, linens, pillows, etc. We are already looking at dates for next year!

Peaceful get-away.
We had a lovely stay on Spectacle Pond. The house is as advertised...clean and comfortable. The owners went above and beyond to supply all that you need for a vacation. We enjoyed the kayaks, deck, swim float, grill etc. They also had very nice bikes but we had brought our own. The area was so quiet and peaceful and we loved watching and listening to the Loon family on the lake. We will definitely be coming back again.

Wonderful Family Waterfront Home
We had a wonderful vacation here! The house had everything we needed- I can't think of a single thing that I had hoped would be there- both indoors and out! The house was clean and comfortable. We made use of all of the outdoor amenities including the lovely deck, shady hammock, and fire pit. There's a small launching dock for the kayaks, canoe and SUP which came in handy. There were 2 adult bikes and one smaller bike, and they even had a bike rack for easy transport. Mary, the property owner, was extremely easy to communicate with and very responsive. And we had a fun game night with the provided games! This is a great home base for a lovely NH vacation.

Ultimate Retreat
From the initial rental process to the conclusion of the stay & everything in between, there was not a day that went by that we weren’t grateful to/for the host that we had. The house is a gem. The host could not have been more accommodating. Part of our family was coming in from CA & they ran into flight changes & Mary rolled with the punches with us. Everyone fell in love with the house & the setting. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for the perfect get-away. Our daughter lives in the area & it worked out wonderfully that they were able to come over & visit so we could all be together as one happy family!

Clean, Cozy, Comfortable - the Perfect Retreat!
Oh, what to say about this little gem? It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it — this was our second visit to the cabin and hopefully won’t be our last. I could go on and on, but these things stand out: excellent service, cleanliness & amenities, and location. Mary, the property owner, is just wonderful — communicative and attentive, booklets with clear instructions on everything and suggestions for nearby activities, and even beautiful little treats awaiting us (local homemade goodies last year, chocolates and Prosecco for Valentine’s this year!). Last year we arrived the same day as a nasty snow/slush storm and she made the house available earlier in the day in case we wanted to avoid the bad weather; this year we encountered some scheduling problems and she went above and beyond to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. Next, the amenities/layout — it is a sweet little home with modern appliances/fixtures. It is a very snug little home; the function and usefulness of things are thought through and the building is taken care of. The layout is pleasant and the high ceilings make the living room so airy and open. One KEY thing for us is the cleanliness — not the Covid precautions (although the contactless check-in and spotless counters are great!), but the home itself. Many “cabins” are very sweet and rustic and therefore complete DEATH traps for my asthmatic husband (who also has mold/dust allergies). This cabin is wonderfully clean, and the furniture is cozy & comfortable (flop down on either couch, it’s true!) without being a million years old and caked in dust. It’s amazing. Finally, the location is secluded and quiet; last year I would sip coffee watching the mist come up off the water, and this year we caught snowflakes on our tongues out on the porch. GPS is blessedly accurate; once you get to the last leg of drive it’s classic New Hampshire (dirt/gravel roads, unmarked driveways), but follow the hand-painted signs and you’ll find what you’re looking for — in so many more ways than one.

What a great spot, the pictures do nto do it justice. The house is located in a very quite area and has a private drive leading up to a beautiful lake front property. We loved the gas fireplace, we loved the open floor plan on the first floor and all the small touches that the host left for us.- including a wonderful gift basket and easy instructions for the week. Close to a childrens museum, multiple ski areas (we hit up Whaleback, Dartmouth, Suicide Six and Waterville Valley which are all less than 1 hour away). Our only complaint -- we wish we owned this place and could use it year round!

Our visit was in October ‘21, and I wrote a lengthy review (which never posted). Following up with a more concise version. This was our best short term rental experience to date. The house was *spotless*. The welcome “package” was such a nice surprise. The location and quietude were exactly what our family needed on a holiday weekend. We used the canoe, kayaks, and fire pit for wonderful outdoor experiences. We hiked local trails and drove into Hanover (for our annual visit). We would happily stay at this property every season. And Mary was an excellent communicator. Looking forward to future visits!

Beyond expectations
