The Grand Hotel
"The Grand Hotel is a historic property with excellent staff and great food, and it's very handy if you're travelling by rail to or from the adjacent Torquay station. The recent renovation of the indoor pool, changing rooms and spa facilities was long overdue and provides a now clean and welcoming experience, although the arrangement remains sub-optimal from a hygiene perspective with guests and staff having to walk poolside wearing shoes to access the changing rooms. The lobby and bar area are well-appointed and welcoming, the restaurant serves fantastic food but is somewhat shabby with dated decor and fittings. The breakfast buffet is extensive with everything you could imagine, and even includes a gluten free section. On the upper floors, the rooms, corridors and staircases remain very dated, with 1980s bathrooms, peeling window frames, and old radiators. Some updates to furniture, interior decoration and modern TV sets do little to offset the sense that this a dated property long overdue for comprehensive refurbishment. One of the two lifts was out of service for the duration of our stay. Nevertheless this is a very welcoming and pleasant place to stay, and the pool/spa facilities are perfectly decent following the recent works. It's also great value, and I suspect that if it were comprehensively renovated to contemporary 4 star expectations I would probably not be able to afford it!"
Abbey Sands Hotel
"Lovely hotel a little dated but very clean. The rooms were a little too warm. Great location"
The Imperial Torquay
"We had booked a double room with a sea-view. On arrival we were disappointed with the room as the bed was only a standard double size, which few hotels have these days and which was not clear to us when booking (though perhaps we assumed wrongly). This room was also a bit small for our taste and expectations, and it wasn't even the smallest size we could have booked (which would have been the "cozy double") so I can't image how "cozy" that would be. Annaya on reception was very patient with us and helpful in upgrading us to a larger room (at a price). And once we had upgraded we were very happy with the room and the view. The hotel has an aura of internal grandeur consistent with some of its celebrated past guests but is perhaps showing its age in terms of its exterior decor. It is only a short walk from the buzz of Torquay harbour. The breakfast buffet provided a good choice, with some nice touches (e.g. overnight oats with banana) but we found that from 9am it was quite busy and as a result they were unable to handle food requests such as poached eggs or eggs benedict. We enjoyed our visit and a special mention should go to Annaya and Callum on reception who were both polite, helpful and professional in all our interactions and issues. We would consider coming again. A tip: We were definitely happy we had paid for a sea-view room as the rooms at the back of the hotel have a limited inland view. Also note you have to pay £10 per night parking, which is annoying."
Hampton by Hilton Torquay
"The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was amazing, the view was gorgeous and the location is perfect. I suggest if you need hypoallergenic bedding that you request at the time of reserving, it’s not standard to have it included in the room."
Passage House Hotel
"Exceptional Stay with Fantastic Staff! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Passage House Hotel Holiday Apartments, and it exceeded all expectations! Location: Situated in a great location, it provided the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area while offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Accommodations: The room was exceptionally clean, modern, and very comfortable, making it feel like a true home away from home after a busy day out. Service: What truly sets this place apart is the team. The staff were fantastic and genuinely friendly, always going above and beyond with a welcoming smile to ensure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming getaway! "A wonderful, clean, and comfortable retreat with hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home.""
Belgrave Sands Hotel & Spa
"Every member of staff we met was very welcoming, friendly and professional. The room was very well equipped and the breakfast excellent. The special 6 course dinner was very much appreciated. The one concern, in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, was that the room and especially the en suite was uncomfortably hot and cooled just a little by the fans provided. Air conditioning would have been very welcome!"
The Headland Hotel & Spa
"A nice hotel, decent food and drinks offering. Staff were friendly, rooms were a bit dated and pokey but not an issue. Bonus of charging points for electric cars which saved us a trip out. The local area is fantastic and worth the visit"
Gara Rock
"Stayed 3 nights & had a wonderful time at this beautiful located hotel. The staff are amazing, helpful & very professional.Food wonderful & breakfast fantastic.Highly recommend Gara Rock, location perfect & panoramic views & lovely walk to catch the ferry to Salcombe. Will definitely return for future stays in the area."
Lincombe Hall Hotel & Spa - Just for Adults
"Lovely, spacious rooms, environment considered (no silly plastic cups/shower caps). I saw the pool and jacuzzi water being tested twice whilst we were there. Only thing was that we had to pay for parking, but that was because we booked with a third party. Book with hotel. Breakfast lovely, maybe a few more pastry/bread choices needed."
