Enjoy the best possible site for visiting the St John's area. a
Approximately 20 minutes from the airport, this house has it all, with plenty of outdoor seating, wooded area behind the house, ocean in front. Great for families or couples. Twenty to twenty five minutes to downtown St John's and it's fine restaurants and art galleries as well as its colorful houses. A big attraction here is the close access to the East Coast Trail, just minutes from your front door.

As you enter, you immediately know that you are in a special place. Facing you is the large and extremely well equipped kitchen, a sunny family room and a dining room and living room with a panoramic view of the ocean and the surrounding cliffs. Open the door and step out on the veranda which surrounds three sides of the house. Sit on the colorful Adirondack chairs and take a deep breath. You realize that you have arrived in the vacation home of your dreams! Take a stroll through the garden where you can, in season, pick fresh lettuce, Swiss chard, green onions for your salad plus a variety of herbs.. Enjoy the flowers and trees on all sides. In September there are potatoes, carrots and turnips.

Upstairs has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom with queen mattress is large and bright with windows facing the ocean. You will wake up to the gentle lap of the waves against the shore or maybe the crash of waves against the rocks. The master bath has a walk in shower, plus a free standing tub, perfect for relaxing in after a long day hiking or sight seeing. All the bathrooms are well supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner and lots of good quality towels.
The second bedroom also has a queen bed and own bathroom . It has an ocean view plus a view of the valley to the west.
The third bedroom is located in a Casita situated next to the main house. This very pretty and spacious room has a queen bed and full bathroom. Two large windows provide excellent light plus a great ocean view.

The laundry room, with detergent supplied, is located on the second floor.

If needed, a fourth sleeping area would be in the family room, where we have a sofa bed to which we add a very comfortable double mattress. As this is not a private space we would recommend it only for children. But many adults have slept there without a problem..

If you like games, we have Bocci and croquet. For indoor fun, card games and scrabble.

Couldn’t be more perfect!
Originally booked Valentines gift from 2020 that unfortunately in the midst of Covid had to be canceled, yet we were able to re-book what looked and was described as the most amazing spot again for our re-scheduled Nfld trip. As stated by so many, the amazing pictures, are only topped once you arrive and see the beauty of not only Eileen & Glen’s place, but the surroundings and the people. Everything was wonderful, from easy check in, to getting a chance to meet Eileen, to spending the start of each day with coffee on the front porch, and ending it in the same place enjoying the stars, the sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean! Close to St. John’s, East Coast Trail, great places to eat within 1/2 hour, etc. Can’t wait to return and look forward to visiting Eileen & Glenn again. Thank you for having us at your perfect place!!

Handsome home overlooking Flatrock Cove
My family stayed at this property in August 2023. This place was a very comfortable end to our 2-week Newfoundland vacation. The house appears to be quite new, is fully furnished with high-end appliances, good cookware and dishware, comfortable furniture, and very comfortable beds. The house was immaculately clean. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and oils - much more so than most VRBOs. The views from the front porch over to the cove were beautiful. We enjoyed one of the nearby hiking trails, a part of Newfoundland's East Coast trail, just a few minutes from our door. The house is conveniently located just 30 minutes' drive from downtown St. Johns, has a grocery store 5 minutes' drive away, and is not far from (but not under the flight path of) the airport. We would happily stay in this house again if we should return to Newfoundland. A real gem!

Another great stay at Dawnview
This was our second time at Dawnview and once again nothing disappointed. Eileen &Glenn were great hosts (thanks for the delicious cod fillets!) supplying a comfortable, very well-equipped house in a wonderful location with a view that is hard to beat even in Newfoundland. The house overlooks Flatrock Cove that had waves crashing on the rocks most of the week we were there. We walked portions of two segments of the East Coast Trail without having to drive from the house even with St. John's only 20 minutes away. Super location. We highly recommend this property and its hosts!

Wonderful!
We had a wonderful stay in Flatrock. It is exactly as pictured in the photos. The lovely view won't be forgotten. The entire place was so cozy and comfy with all the little things you need. The one thing I will call out is that the beds were very comfortable and we slept really well, especially with the sound of the ocean to lull us asleep.

We loved our stay here! The property itself was stunning. Very large and spacious house, well kept and clean. Amazing views looking over the water. The yard was huge with lots of green space and a big driveway for parking access. We were sad to leave at the end of our trip. Eileen (our host) was very accommodating and helpful.

Beautiful relaxing view
This VRBO IS FANTASTIC. The views are spectacular from almost every room. We spent a lot of time in the chairs on the decks surrounding the home. The home itself is very comfortable and well equipped. All the bathrooms were well supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner and good quality towels. There were 6 of us and we also used the casita next to house which was equally supplied. I have no complaints. This Vrbo is a fantastic find! It was spacious, nicely decorated and felt like home. Would stay here again any time!!

Great Gettaway
Perfect spot just out side St Johns not too far but close to all. House was perfect between the amazing view and the just feels so homing here. Couple nice walking paths and the fresh Lobster was so so good. I would definitely come back and stay here again. The little bung house with the 3rd bedroom was pretty kool

Quel beau séjour nous avons passé dans cette superbe maison de Flatrock. Eileen est une hôte formidable qui nous a si bien accueilli dès notre arrivée avec un pot de gelée de confiture.. La maison est immaculée avec une vue époustouflante sur l’océan! Très bien située, à seulement 20 minutes de l’aéroport et de St-John’s, cette splendide maison saura vous plaire à coup sûr!! amazing stay
the house was situated in a beautiful cove. it has a wrap around deck, which we assumed would b e out if bounds due to weather ( Early October) but the weather gods were with us and we enjoyed sunny warm days Indoors was immaculately clean, with lots of extras for guests ... the kitchen was well equipped, there is a pantry that contained coffee, tea, as well as some breakfast foods etc.. coffee maker met our fussy coffee aficionados standards for sure! main sitting room looked out over the ocean ... breathtaking views and very comfortable there was another sitting /TV room with an electric fire ( might have been gas .. we did not need it) the circular flow from one room to another on the ground floor was so easy for the group of old friends we invited for lunch ( 15 of us in total ... room to spare inside and outside. The photos o the site do not really prepare me for the size of the rooms .. and the easy flow. .. just beautiful. Our gracious hosts came to say hello during out lunch ns brought 2 bottles of wine! But would not come in ... my friends were annoyed that I let them leave as we all had so many questions about such a sophisticated property .. they assumed it was my Toronto training to not insist they join the party. I still regret the I did not. The main bedroom had the same spectacular view as the sitting room and a bathroom with a soaker tub that needed more time to take full advantage of. all 3 bedrooms were clean and very comfortable. w all had a great time quick drive to st johns... 20 minutes and no problem with getting taxis back at night after some fabulous meals down town. can't wait to get back there

The location of this property is superb, walking on the hiking trails along the ocean was just what we wanted in our ocean front stay. The only small issue was the fireplace was not working and the host said she would return and fix it but never returned

We would definitely give this house a 10 out 10 rating in every way. The cleanliness, well stocked kitchen and location and view was fantastic! Our only problem was we couldn’t stay longer. Hopefully next time!

Spectacular!
Our stay at Flat Rock was the end of a two week stay of a wonderful trip to Newfoundland. The pictures of this property only begin to reflect how fabulous the property is. The house was exceptionally clean on arrival and the vistas out the front window and on the deck were magnificent. Our stay in Flat Rock was beyond expectations. It was also very nice to meet the host. We enjoyed hiking in the area and also were able to venture to the St. John's area with no problem. It was truly a delight to spend time here. Thank you. P.
