Fontanelle is a great place to visit when vacationing in the glitzy Adriatic Riviera resort of Riccione. This seaside neighborhood has easy access to a long stretch of sandy coastline, many watersports and a vibrant nightlife scene. Give back to nature by helping at a turtle center, go shopping and visit art galleries.
Like much of Rimini’s coastline, beach clubs set up on the soft golden sand of Fontanelle. For an admission fee you can use bars, restaurants, beach umbrellas, loungers and changing facilities. Play beach soccer and volleyball or rent a speedboat and try wake boarding and windsurfing. Set up camp at clubs, such as Flamingo Beach and Pedra del Sol, or relax on the free beach in front of Piazzale San Martino.
Help out a worthy cause by volunteering at Ospedale delle Tartarughe, a center for the preservation and rehabilitation of sea turtles. Through the help of volunteers, the center rescues and treats dozens of turtles a year. Ask about participation events, including beach cleaning days and public awareness activities.
Bring the family to Indiana Golf Riccione for some laidback entertainment. The holes of this Indiana Jones-themed miniature golf course spread around a lush botanical garden decorated with ponds and waterfalls. There’s something for all ages at Perle d'Acqua Park, too. It features a children’s play zone, hydromassage, thermal and swimming pools.
If you are in the mood for pampering, indulge in a range of therapeutic spa treatments at Riccione Terme.
To see more of what Riccione has to offer, simply walk to the town center via the cobblestone Viale Gramsci. Browse Italian fashion at boutiques and dine on regional dishes at restaurants and pizzerias. The Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Villa Franceschi has interesting exhibitions by national artists. Cultural events take place at Villa Mussolini, a former home of Benito Mussolini.
Fontanelle is just a 15-minute drive from Federico Fellini International Airport. Public buses stop at intervals on beachfront Via Torino. Stay overnight at guesthouses, hotels and well-equipped camping villages.
