I have a mixed review of the Bartley Lodge. It is on beautiful grounds and was one of the few hotels in the area with a (small) pool. We arrived early, and even though our room wasn't ready, they let us walk the grounds and use the pool, which was amazing.
Our room was incredibly hot (granted it was during a heatwave, but our room was hotter than the hallway or anywhere else in the hotel). There was an A.C. unit in the room, but it was broken.
The other complaint was about the toilet, which was very touchy about flushing. We called down to the front desk 3 times before someone came up to look at it. This employee was able to get it to flush, but mentioned that he gets complaints about the toilet often. We were only able to get it to flush occasionally and joked that you had to have the magic touch.
The swimming pool was a lifesaver as was the grounds and gardens. It is a beautiful hotel, and we had good and not so good service there, so it definitely is a mixed review. I would probably recommend it with a few stipulations.
