Their beautiful symmetry and fineness of structure had never been seen before, or since for that matter. The ford from England to mid Wales across the River Severn used for at least 2000 years (until c1886). The main meeting place between the representatives of King Henry 3 and Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, last Welsh Prince of Wales, in the mid 13th century.
