This is an old hotel that is being updated. My room was completely modern as was the bath. Both the room and bath had opening windows! The location is great, about 7 minutes walk from the train station, 5 minutes to the bus station and 5-10 minutes to the city center. The only glitch I encountered was when I tried to take the stairs instead of the one elevator - that's when I discovered that not all of the hotel has been renovated yet. The pathway to use the stairs was a bit disjointed and involved two different sets of stairs that seemed to be from two different eras.

This hotel sits right next to the train station so while it is convenient when using the trains, it is not in the most beautiful part of the city and the trains are very loud at night if you have a room facing the tracks (we did). The do provide ear plugs and I used them so that did help. The beds/pillows were not super comfortable so our sleep quality was not great while we stayed in Cork. They do have an awesome gym in the hotel that I was able to use. The lobby of the hotel has a nice bar area and a good vibe. We ate at the restaurant a few times. The food was fine..nothing amazing but convenient.

"Room 239 was miserably hot. Seriously so hot that we got ill. The window upended up to small alley where the employees of the tavern kept throwing trash and glass bottles all night. We could hear people throwing up. Not a great experoemce."
