New house at eleuthera's most sought after location: banks road - golden mile

Tradewinds is a secluded 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa, with a private pool and spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean. Located on the Banks Road in the heart of Eleuthera's “Golden Mile”, it is 900 feet (3 mins walk) across Bank's Road, down a deeded path to a beautiful, quiet, pink sand beach. The property also has a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom guesthouse which is available to rent with the main house. (The guesthouse is ONLY available to rent WITH the main house -it is not rented independently. Cost to add the guesthouse, $100 extra per night.) The area from Governors Harbour to North Palmetto point is the most spectacular and sought after stretch on the island, with gorgeous pink sand beaches, amazing reefs and great restaurants and cafes. You can walk from the house to Tippy’s restaurant along the beach.

The house is set in 1 acre of native, tropical vegetation, which creates privacy. The private pool is 24 x 12 feet, with a constant 4 foot depth, ideal for swimming or just relaxing after a day at the beach. 1800 sq feet of spacious decks, both covered and uncovered, allow for sunbathing, enjoying the ocean views, outdoor dining, or relaxing by the pool. The entire property is exclusively rented to you, with no other renters or owners on the property.

Elegantly furnished throughout, the house is inverted, with the great room and kitchen on the upper floor allowing wonderful views and breezes in the main living space. The kitchen is fitted with modern appliances and a large island with bar stools. Downstairs, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, Smart TV and spa-like ensuite bathroom with a claw-foot tub, walk-in waterfall shower and double sinks. The second bedroom also has a king-size bed, and has its own private balcony - perfect for morning coffee. The second bedroom can also be converted from a king-size bed to 2 twin beds.The guest bathroom has a walk in shower. There is private high speed internet throughout the house.

Beach chairs and 2 sets of snorkels are included with the rental. You can snorkel the reefs, swim, or walk for miles along the pink sand beaches that start just a 3 minute walk from the house. There is a 42" flat screen Smart TV (with a Netflix subscription) in the great room.

The house is located centrally on the island in what is considered the prime location in Eleuthera. It is near the best Pink Sand beaches, and there are several restaurants within a 10 minute drive. The area is called the Golden Mile for a reason! You will be swimming in crystal clear waters, snorkelling gorgeous reefs and relaxing on some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the world.

What an oasis!

Tradewinds was just what we needed as a spot of relaxation before a big wedding. Jethro was so considerate and came by to make sure our stay was going well and to find out if we needed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed the home with comfortable beds and clean refreshing pool. The 3 min walk on the sand path through the palm trees opening to the breathtaking Atlantic beach was a bonus. We hope to come again!

Our sanctuary in paradise

This was an absolutely amazing rental home. The location was perfect: a quick and easy drive into town and an easy walk to the beautiful beach across the street. Eleuthera can feel rural at times and while this property is tucked a bit out of the way and felt quiet and private it was still easy to access. We loved the town of Governor’s Harbor and were really happy to have this location as our base for exploring the southern side of the island. Everything matched the listing accurately and the layout of the house was perfect for our group of 6 friends and couples. Great common space and a really well appointed kitchen that made cooking at home a breeze. That top deck with ocean views was so peaceful and comfortable for morning coffee. Jethro is a hospitality pro, he welcomed us so warmly, took his time showing us the ins and outs of the property, and was happy to give advice about which restaurants to go to and which beaches and excursions to check out per our group’s needs. We took a lot of his advice and were so glad we did!!We all wish we could’ve stayed much longer and are eager to return. Thanks, Jethro!

Ultimate Paradise

This place is perfect for exploring beaches and also having a pool. Located in the middle of the island its convenient to go either North or South. Jethro is hands down the best home owner we have ever rented from. Immediate response in person if needed. Even though right on Banks Rd the privacy is perfect! Looking forward to returning to this beautiful island and will definitely return to Tradewinds!

Over the 10 years we’ve been coming to the island Trade Winds is the best value we’ve had yet. It’s a great tucked away property with privacy, great access to beach, actual walking distance to Tippys and Jethro is outstanding. We’ve never had such a great host. This property is the perfect blend of real Eleuthera and comfortable housing. We will absolute stay here again and recommend it to our friends. If you're considering Trade Winds....DO IT!!

My family of 6 spent a week at the Trade Winds House and would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering this area and this house in particular. The house was clean and just as described. It had everything we needed and was in a great location. It's close to Governor's Harbor and restaurants as well as a couple of grocery stores. The beach near the house was really one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen. I think we saw maybe 2 other people on the beach the whole week. The home is in a nice central location for exploring both ends of the island. We loved having all the beach toys and used the paddle board almost daily. The beach umbrella came in handy although we all ended up with bright red sunburns. In the evenings we enjoyed watching Netflix and hanging out together in the comfortable kitchen/family room area. Jethro was so helpful and gave us lots of information about the island and things to do. He told us about many spots that we would have never found without his instructions. We loved Eleuthera so much we're booking a trip back next month. Unfortunately, Trade Winds is already booked or it would definitely be our first choice. Maybe next time.:) Thanks again Jethro! You ROCK!

Fantastic house, location, hospital owners, beautiful beaches! Highly Recommend!

The location worked great for us. The house is near the most beautiful beaches on Eleuthera Island with the one in front of the house just a 5 minute walk away. We rented a SUV from Arthur who was great! We recommend renting a car as there are other beaches and towns to explore on the Island. A few of our favorites and good for small kids were Ten Bay Beach and French Leave beach which are about 10 minutes from the house by car. We cooked and ate out. There is grocery store and movie theater are approx 10 minutes away. The house had plenty of amenities for cooking and relaxing. There are great restaurants near the house too (Tippy’s was 1 minute away). The Glass Bridge was an hour drive. We caught a ferry from N Eleuthera to Harbor Island and spent day there and visited Spanish Wells another day. These day trips were about 1-1 1/2 drive one way. We would have liked to have had more time on Harbor Island. The house itself was also fantastic in accommodating our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 boys under 11). The house was clean, comfortable, with full kitchen for use. We felt right at home thanks also to the owners who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Owners made sure there were toys for our young boys and took time to give us tips on day adventures on the island. There was so much offered with the house: Pool, trampoline, inflatable kayaks, bikes, snorkels, pool toys, tv, wifi, Netflix, Amazon music, cell for local use, etc. We used the inflatable kayaks on several different beaches during our stay. We kept them rolled up in the back of our rental car and would take them right to the beach and they would only take five minutes to inflate. Our three boys enjoyed the trampoline several times during our stay. We never got to use the mountain bikes or fishing pole but they would have worked perfectly. We all enjoyed the pool. The air conditioning in the house worked perfectly. We used the grill on the deck several times, we grilled fresh lobster we bought off the docks from a local fisherman. We also used the washing machine several times and dried our cloths on the line without issue. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and so happy we found TradeWinds! We can't wait to come back and stay here again! We have been back in CO for a week now, but are already missing Island life! Thank you Jethro and family for making this one of our best vacations ever!

Awesome home and property!

We had a fantastic time at Tradewinds and I would highly recommend it to family and friends. Jethro, the homeowner, was staying next door at his other property. He met us when we arrived (he let us check in early b/c we were coming from Rainbow Bay) and showed us around. Super cool guy, and his dog Bubbles was friendly too. He even showed my husband & daughter the forest behind the house & grabbed a coconut for my son. The property is really beautiful. Full of palms and flowering plants. It’s feels private from the road. The view from the top floor is beautiful - you can see the ocean to the east and beautiful forest/sunsets to the west. Directly across the road is a little trail that takes you right to the beach. Maybe a 2-3 really cool walk through forest. We walked the beach trail in the evenings and were the only ones on the beach for reverse-sunsets. Just wear bug spray! The pool was perfect and clean, it was just the right size & there were plenty of tubes & floaties provided for the kids. Four nice lounge chairs + two sitting chairs by the pool, and an outdoor shower to rinse off. The bottom and upper decks had plenty of furniture for relaxing and lounging, plus a dining table and grill on the upper deck. The house is beautiful inside. Lower level has two bedrooms. The main bedroom is spacious and has a really nice bathroom w/soaking tub and shower. There was shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, beach towels, all you need. Plenty of extra cozy linens and pillows. The other bedroom has two twin beds, but you can easily smoosh them together to make a larger bed. It was a nice bedroom for kids, plus they had their own 2nd bathroom with shower. Upstairs was so cozy. Ample lounging space. Kitchen had everything we needed (drinking water to start with, spices, some condiments in the fridge), coffee maker, toaster, etc. Large dining table, cozy couch and chairs, books and maps for reading pleasure, nice, beachy decor, pillows, nice lighting. Plenty of ceiling fans and AC in all rooms. We often just opened the windows and doors and had the perfect tradewinds blowing through the whole place! It was just right for our family of 4. We did not use the poolhouse (extra). But we could still use the washer/dryer attached to the poolhouse. We plan to come back here someday! Thank you Jethro for being so kind to us. You have a beautiful place.

Just chill

Great property, easy access, and great host. Jethro added to the enjoyment of our trip by giving us tips on locations, activities, restaurants, shopping, and even helping us with our drinking water. He did not have to be as attentive and kind as he was, but he was anyway. We were warned about power outages but didn’t have any problems during our stay. The path and beach walk to Tippys was a great experience. We recommend.

This was our third time staying at one of Jethro’s properties, and the first time staying at Trade Winds. On previous visits, we stayed next door at Sea Shanty. This time, we had another couple join us, so we reserved Trade Winds, and it did not disappoint!There are so many hangout options – whether you want shade or sun. The decks were great, and the pool was wonderful!Jethro is a fantastic host. Great communication, and very responsive to any requests.The location of the house is perfect for exploring the island – and the beach across the street is gorgeous. Perfect for a sunrise, or a walk to Tippy’s. As with Sea Shanty, the beach access is across the street, down a short, tree lined path (maybe 3–4-minute walk). We prepared most of our dinners at the house, which was well equipped. Overall, a terrific experience. We can’t wait to go back!

AMAZING!

Words can’t describe how beautiful and tranquil the beaches are on Eleuthera. The Trade Winds house is a great central location to adventure out or simply stay in and relax on one of two balcony's. Easy walk (just across the street) over to pink sand beaches and within walking distance to Tippy's restaurant and bar. Nothing tops our host, Jethro, who is a wealth of information about the island and so kind to help when needed. We can’t wait to return next year! We will definitely book with Jethro again!

Christmas at the beach!

Great location! Only steps to the beach. Stars are amazing. Sound of waves can be heard from the deck. Sunrise from the front deck each morning was wonderful. Sunset off the side deck is also great! Kitchen is well stocked for coooking and nice that staples were left behind from past guests, inlcuding extra drinking water. Be sure to go to the Island Farm store and the Market in Rock Sound was impressively stocked, especially for us as vegetarians who coooked most of our meals at Tradewinds. Information provided by host on nearby beaches, stores and restaurants was very helpful in our planning and considering what to do each day. Host was also very responsive with suggestions and help of any kind. December was a little too cold for us to use the pool but it was cleaned everyday in case we wanted to take a plunge. The secluded beaches, the adventurous roads, the wonderful shops and stores, the very helpful residents and shop owners, and Island Farm are the reasons we will be returing as soon as we can!

Secluded Paradise!

This is an incredible getaway. The house has everything we needed to cook and bake, including a grill. There are times when the power on the island is out so the grill was really handy. The beach is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and most days we were the only ones there. Jethro was always available if we needed him and very friendly! We hope to be back to this magical place soon.

Fantastic property!

We took our family down to the bahamas for a graduation celebration. The pool house plus the main residence was a must and a very nice feature of this place. Not to mention the pool was awesome. Jethro keeps his place very nice and was very willing to help us out on what to do on the island. The beach is a 5 minute walk.Or a very short drive.beautiful beautiful! JUST BOOK IT

After rescheduling our trip to Eleuthera 2-3 times due to Covid and then a medical issue, we were finally able to make it down to stay at Jethro’s property and it was totally worth the wait! The home is located in a nice area that gets you away from everything! The beach across the street is STUNNING and you MIGHT see 1-2 other people strolling the sand but you also might not. The property was exactly as listed and well appointed-Jethro and Bubbles (his sweet pup) stopped by upon checkin to go over a few things and that was really nice. Speaking of Jethro, you can expect his communication with you to be stellar - truly a helpful and gracious host! He now sets the bar for all VRBO hosts LOL. Highly suggest Tippy’s which is super close to the house (amazing customer service, food/drinks, and view; popping down to Ten Bay Beach (about a fifteen minute drive from the house) which was jaw dropping beautiful, visiting the Glass Window bridge (and if you’re brave and careful climb up on the rocks for some amazing panoramic pics), and hitting The Market supermarket for groceries. We did go to Harbour Island for a day trip; rented a golf cart to scoot around and it was really nice-much more of a bougie scene on that island and a lot more people if that’s your thing. But we were quite happy at the beach across the street from Jethro’s and then cooling off in the pool at the end of the day! Felt totally safe during our whole trip. Like I said, JUST BOOK IT.
