"We’ve stayed here 8 times during the past 3 years because we love the design and history, but be advised of issues: This is not a 4-star hotel, as advertised. By definition, a 4-star hotel minimally has porters to help with luggage and offers room service. Marcel has neither. The front desk person does his/her best and will help with luggage in a pinch, but we’ve never seen a porter, even when we struggled. If you want to eat in your room, you order takeout from the hotel restaurant and then go down in person to carry it up to your room in awkward bags. Managing to carry wine glasses and a bottle was made more difficult by the very long time we awkwardly waited for the hostess to retrieve the bottle while juggling other tasks. And when she forgets to include the utensils, you have to run back down to wait some more. (The kitchens of the Chairman suites have no supplies, incl utensils and glasses.) Lights are operated remotely and confusedly from a central touchpad, which can be finicky. Finally, the exterior doors of the hotel don’t open by hand or automatically (the developer’s concession to the Historic Buildings Commission). You push a not-obvious button to open them; though the front desk person usually notices when you approach and can push a remote button. On the positive side, the windows are large and very well glazed such that rooms are wonderfully free of outside noise. There are plenty of great EV chargers and free parking. But you have to REALLY love eccentricity."

"The room was drafty around the heating unit. Additionally, this hotel, like most newly built hotels, uses an automatic thermostat for the heat and cool. When the thermostat is set and it gets a little too warm in the room, and you turn it down a couple degrees the AC kicks on rather than just allowing the ambient temp drop. When the outside temp is 18 degrees having the AC running is not a pleasant experience. Overall, this is a really nice place to stay. Staff is friendly and its clean."
