What happens when you make last minute bookings

Posted Aug 29, 2016
Pros: The location is a reasonable walk from downtown, and is near to (and easily accessable) to arterial roads.
Cons: Upgrade mattresses Add coffee/tea to hotel rooms Upgrade wireless routers
Location: Downtown is an easy walk away. The Halifax Commons is also very close. Not difficult to get to the main roadways, which makes most sites accessable.
Signage on the hotel & parking facilities is poor - very difficult to find. The front desk staff were friendly, but their appearance was unprofessional (felt like you were checking into someone's home when they weren't expecting company) In the room, there were numerous minor problems: i) The air conditoner was loud, and had only two workable settings - way to cold, and off. Nothing else worked on it ii) The TV remote didn't function, so you had to manually change the channel/volume a) The manual controls were difficult to reach, resulting in ultimately changing the input, and losing the tv channels iii) There was no coffee or tea in the room iv) The beds were extemely lumpy and uncomfortable v) The sheets were not fitted, and came off while sleeping/moving in bed vi) The front staff called to tell us that the room below was complaining about excessive noise. . . considering the small size of the hotel, they ought to have come up and checked to see who was causing the disturbance, rather than waking us with a phone call to see if we were the ones making the noise. vii) The 'complimentary' breakfast was laughably inadequate. viii) The internet connection was slow, and sporadic. Completely unreliable to achieve anything meaningful while staying at the hoetl.

Good value, nice location

Posted Aug 24, 2016
Location: Just slightly north of downtown, but walkable. Citadel is about 5 minutes away.
Check-in was a bit slow, but I think hey were training someone. Also new trainee tried to walk in my room without knocking at one point. I hope they get him sorted out. Rest of staff was pretty good. Room had everything I needed. Bed was great, shower worked well, tv found in the room. Located about 5 minutes from the Citadel so you could get to the good stuff fairly easily. Great value for the room and location, would recommend.

Le diable est dans les détails

Bien situé à 15 minutes à pied du centre ville, mais : pas d'ascenseur, petit corridor, finition de la chambre laissant à désiré, pas d'accueil, ...

One of my worst hotel stays!

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: Funky Agricola Street location
Cons: Everything!
Room was small, poorly laid out, badly lit. Bathroom was gruesome. Thinking about it now is making my skin crawl...

Nice place to stay.....

Posted Aug 12, 2016
Pros: I liked many things about the hotel.....the staff.....excellent.....very welcoming and accommodating. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the room.
Cons: The plumbing could be improved......had trouble with water slow to go down the sink......
Location: I had a medical appointment so I was not concerned with things to do.
The staff were excellent.....very polite and accommodating. Downside is that the building is an old one which was given "up-grades"......still hard to hide the fact that it is old.

Excellent stay

Posted Jul 28, 2016
My girlfriend and I had to come up to Halifax for a one night stay and we are really glad we chose the Common Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful , the room was very clean (besides the back of the TV which had alot of dust but that was minor) small room size but it was perfect for us or any couple really. Parking was a little downside just due to the very small lot to park in but we made it work, overall a great experience! :)

Good location

Posted Jul 19, 2016
Pros: location and parking provided
Cons: The carpets really need to be changed.
Location: Lots of good restaurants and interesting shops nearby.Close to downtown.
Good location; friendly staff; parking and breakfast included. It is a good stopover place. It's a bit tired, but clean and a good alternative to high season rate hotels when you are just going through town quickly or just want a basic place while you are visiting the city.

Halifax hotel

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Quiet hotel. Big suite but it looks like it was a conversion of two rooms. I noticed a stack of phone books supporting part of the bed and the ceiling had been repaired but a less than professional grouting job in the finish. Fridge did not work but staff changed it out immediately when notified.
