“The Utopia River Retreat was just what we needed after 3 nights camping out in Big Bend. The cabin we stayed in (Kickapoo) was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed (cooking utensils, bath towels, linens). The grounds were peaceful and scenic and had a nice swimming pool and volleyball net as well as riverfront access. At this time the river on the property didn't look great for swimming (no deep spits, tree branches, etc), but if you want to swim, Utopia City Park has a deep……

“Everything was great. However there is no TV so be prepared to spend that day outside or bring board games. Not much to do at night. We were gone during the day everyday but would have been nice to watch at night. Also if you plan on cooking they have everything but seasoning youll want to bring that with you. Id suggest brining food as closest HEB or groc store is 1hr 15min away. They have a nice waterhole to check out outdoor games for kids. We went end of June and was hot but had nice breeze……

“The cabin is in need of repair. High speed internet was not true we could never get anything on the Dish tv to work The cooker was rusted, grill didn’t fit. The furniture on the back porch was rusted so we set in camper chairs we bought. The front door deadbolt didn’t work. Both porches Need major upgrade When we opened the back door a bucket of cigarettes butts greeted us. The grounds were filled with stickers and most grass dead.
