Where to stay in Ilhabela

Centro Comercial
Praia do Julião in Ilhabela is a magical and gorgeous place for families and people who love snorkeling and diving. Near the rocks, there are many species of fishes and sea-life which usually thrill underwater photography lovers. Besides, it is another example used by many - if not most - proud Paulistas to prove what is obvious: that São Paulo's northern coast beaches are much more beautiful than any in neighbouring state of Rio de Janeiro.

Santa Tereza
Beautiful church in Portuguese colonial style. It was inaugurated in 1806 and later reformed in the 20th century. It keeps inside a beautiful panel dedicated to Nossa Senhora D'Ajuda. Every year, in February, there is a great party dedicated to the patroness with quermesses and typical foods. On its exterior stand out for the statue of Christ crucified at the base of the staircase.

We took an escuna boat ride to Fome beach. The beach was beautiful. There was a little snack bar. There were mosquitoes (mostly on the left side of the beach, if you are looking at it from the water). The water was a little rough, so some got sick.
