"So peaceful. While we wanted to be near some attractions near Hilo, we did not want to stay near a lot of people. We knew of this little community in Keaau and this property did not disappoint! While we were initially nervous about the lack of AC (for medical reasons I typically need it), we ended up having excellent sleep at this home and there were many ceiling fans that helped. The screened in porch was a huge favorite along with the charming garden and exotic fruit trees in the backyard. It could not have been a more peaceful and welcoming home! Would stay again!!"
"I enjoyed my stay here. The place is one of a kind and each room is unique. I was reluctant at first because of the shared bathroom, but I never had issues when I needed to use it. There is also an additional bathroom outside that I didn’t read about or see until my last night. The outdoor hot tub and shower were all placed uniquely in the back of the property amongst nature. The location is super remote and takes some patience trying to find, but you stay here for that reason — off the beaten path. The grounds indoors and out were well maintained. The artwork at the entrance and books inside are provocative and edgy which matches the vibe of the place. The kitchen, dining area, living room and patio were spacious enough for those who want to be alone. Locks are provided on every room door for security. There is a house cat that lurked around. Not a fan, an allergic, but that was minor compared to the beauty of the place. Complimentary snacks are provided in the room, however some water in the kitchen for guests would have been good. Highly recommend "

"We loved staying at Ala Kai B&B. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. They provided great dinner recommendations and places to visit. They also provided an excellent breakfast in the morning. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Our teenage daughter enjoyed having her own room."

"Beautiful, peaceful property. Sue is a fantastic host and explains everything you need to know. The property is away from hustle and bustle and pretty rural. You definitely need a car to get here. "
"Pros: This is our first time staying at a lodge like this, so close to nature, just like camping. You will hear coqui frog whole night & seeing them jumping next to your door step. Animals free roaming, peacocks, ducks, chicken. Kids loved it.
Cons: There is barely any light at night in the Property…so if you come back late, it’s a bit challenging to find your cabin."
