Overall incredible stay! It was a stunning location and absolutely stellar for children! I wish that there was a way to secure the tents when out and about throughout the day, but the site itself was very private and safe.
Unique property with tents to stay in. Unable to drive to your tent but staff shuttles you and your luggage. Very pleasant staff. "Tent" has laminate flooring and we opted for a bathroom included. Two power pack chargers in each tent as well as 2 lanterns. We wish there would have been at least one power outlet instead of just power chargers for using a CPAP.
Amazing place to stay. The staff were incredible, and the food in the restaurant was really quite good - especially the breakfasts. To be able to grab a glass of wine and sit out on the deck and see Mt Rushmore light up is a treat!
Highly recommend staying at the Mount Rushmore location - very convenient for Mount Rushmore (less than 10 minutes away) The staff were amazing and the food was outstanding- can’t wait to stay at another under canvass property soon!
The setting was beautiful, peaceful, and close to Mount Rushmore and other Black Hills attractions. We enjoyed the unique glamping experience, the comfortable bed, the camp atmosphere, and the friendly staff. The property was well maintained, and it was a fun way to experience nature while still having some of the comforts of home. When not recommend going in July the heat was unbearable. She pretty much had to stay away from the tent until after the sun went down and then it was pretty miserably hot at night.
The tent concept is very unique & our two grandsons & us really enjoyed the experience. The tent was clean & everything worked as it should, the staff was very friendly & helpful. Beautiful location & the view of Mt. Rushmore from the deck is awesome.
Under Canvas was absolutely stunning. We loved everything about our stay — the peaceful nature setting, the beautiful views of Mount Rushmore, and the overall atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the food was great. It felt special, relaxing, and memorable. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore. The setting, the atmosphere, and the way the property blends comfort with the Black Hills made it a great experience for our family.
The UnderCanvas Team deserves a lot of credit — everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. The tent setup and amenities were next level, and the overall environment was exactly what we hoped for.
It’s a great base camp for families to visit the surrounding areas.
From check in to check out, our stay was 5 stars. Curtis who welcomed us was very welcoming as were all staff. Our tent was clean, equipped with all we needed and had gorgeous views all around. We had a clear view of Mt. Rushmore on our porch. The meals we had from their onsite restaurant were very good. We enjoyed our total glamping experience here. Highly recommend!

Under the Canvas was a fun experience. We had know idea what to expect but had the best time! It is rustic camping, there are tents with bathrooms, but we didn't book those, so you do have to use a lantern to walk to the bathhouse, if you don't. The bathhouse was clean and efficient, just like camping. Bring water shoes and a travel caddy for the bathhouse showers. The tents were cozy, with a wood stove and plenty of blankets. It rained one night and although loud, nothing got wet. The lanterns provided plenty of light, inside the tents. You also can hear everything from outside, inside your tent, so maybe a sound machine, if you are a light sleeper. Also there is no electricity, they provide a charger for the lanterns and fan, so if you need to charge your devices, you might want to bring additional charging devices. We were able to unplug the lanterns and fan and charge our phones, with no problems, but had we known, we would have been more prepared…all in all it was fun and definitely an experience. The views are amazing and the food was actually really good! They offer a space to hang out, with games and s’mores for around the fire pits along with hiking trails.
Our anniversary trip to Under Canvas was an experience we’ll never forget. Waking up to the incredible scenery each morning and ending our days under the stars created memories we’ll cherish for years to come.
The setting was absolutely breathtaking—glamping at its finest. We loved being immersed in nature without sacrificing comfort. The food was delicious, and every meal felt like part of the celebration.
What stood out most was the thoughtful staff. Their kindness and attention to detail made us feel genuinely welcomed and helped make our anniversary extra special.
Thank you for helping create such wonderful memories. We can’t wait to return someday and relive the magic all over again.
Absolutely will be back. I had a great stay, felt safe, and the staff were all very friendly. The s’mores were also a great finishing touch to a great night
