John Paul makes you feel welcome and pampered and the suites are large, well appointed and more than comfortable for relaxing and sleeping when on property. So much better than much larger chain hotels throughout Joburg. Location and luxury make the Parkwood our top option. ”

“Overall excellent, very good location, walking distance to shoppingmall, many restaurants nearby. Comfortable and safe place to stay. Very good breakfast. Only issue is during load shedding, no heating available. ”

But suffers from the usual lack of communication between staff as well as lack of visible genuine professional enthusiasm of staff who just seem to be going through the motions and who couldn’t care less about the guest experience. Breakfast is a joke and poorly executed with no quality checks. Nice menu but poor delivery. Also there is a chronic long edit for the lifts because the hotel had about 10 different side functions - speak easy, gym, offices, etc and……

“Hotel located minutes from the Rosebank Mall, Guatrain & Red Bus. Rooms are nice and spacious. Staff were nice as well. The breakfast is a little limited & could be warmer. I had an early tour and they prepared me a breakfast to go.”

“Good thing is it nears Gautrain which can take me to airport, Sandton, office.....convinence. Staff there have no sense of service nor smile. Not much expectation.”

“We had a great time at the Protea Hotel Wanderers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to some good shopping malls and the hotel provides shuttle services that can take you to these destinations.”

“Bring your own wash cloths. There are mice outside running on the property so get used to that. Staff was friendly. The cleaning crew will open the door after a soft knock so be prepared. They change sheets mon, wed, friday. I would not stay here again but it may be a place for others to stay. The mall is within walking distance. That's a plus. Decent neighborhood. ”
