Lacanau Vacation Packages
Lacanau is situated on France’s Atlantic coast and encompasses a long beachfront popular with surfers and families. The coastal resort also charms with its lake, village, forest and freshwater ponds. Cycle through a pine forest, kite surf across a lake, find a good wave on the beach and play golf in a location with gorgeous views.
Lacanau is all about the outdoors and sports are the most popular pursuits here. With approximately 9 miles (15 kilometers) of beach, there is lots of room for swimming, surfing and sailing. Courses, lessons and board rental are available from the surf schools dotted along the waterfront. Participate in more watersports at the 4,942-acre (2,000-hectare) Lacanau Lake. Among the activities are canoeing, kite surfing, waterskiing and stand-up paddleboarding. The large freshwater body is also a popular spot for fishing.
Away from the water, go on a forest walk. Trails through the large pine forest are open throughout the year. Alternatively, cycle the network of cement paths through the trees. Also in the forest is Golf de l'Ardilouse, an 18-hole golf course.
Lacanau’s natural setting is a boon for wildlife enthusiasts. One of the best places to see a wide variety of animals is the nature reserve at Cousseau Pond (Réserve Naturelle Nationale de l'Etang de Cousseau). The vast protected area is home to more than 200 species of birds as well as wild boars, badgers, deer and turtles.
Between nature hikes and sporting pursuits, spend time at some of Lacanau's other attractions. At l’Atelier de la Vache watch skilled artisans make leather handbags, belts and hats. Visit the vineyard at Chateau Liouner and taste some of its wines.
Lacanau is situated on the Cote d’Argent, a picturesque stretch of France’s southwest coastline. The nearest airport is in Bordeaux, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) away. Rent a car to complete the journey or take the bus.
Enjoy a fun-filled and adventurous vacation with watersports, wildlife and miles of hiking routes surrounded by stunning scenery.
