It's easy to harsh here but I don't wish to be because, of what the Ascott charges you are going to find compromises. I thought that Expedia rating doesn't help because it does raise expectations. Our stay was Ok, but not excellent. Would I stay there again? Unlikely but that doesn't make it a bad place, I just think the old girl could do with a bit of a refurb. The big positives are that the hotel was generally clean and warm.

Place was really easy to find but the parking was incredibly tight in an suv. The place was really beautiful but we instantly were told about occasions when people used to enter the building and sleep in empty rooms before we even checked in, which was a bit odd and doesn’t help. The room itself had everything you need for one night. The lights were poor and mostly not working and the towels, if you didn’t bring your own, were all clean, but ripped and aged.

I asked to leave my large backpack behind the counter as check in was at 4pm. The gentleman kindly let me check in just after 1pm so I could attend the festival I was attending on time! Very helpful and kind staff, the room has everything you need, very clean and well decorated, located just a couple minutes walk from the train station. Will definitely stay here again when next visiting the Manchester area!

This hotel is very cheap, so I didn't expect much. Free parking, but tight to get to behind hotel. Room was tired, in need of decoration. Bed was comfortable, hotel was quiet. Can't complain for £47.

Wonderful hotel.

This hotel is a hidden gem. The service was brilliant and room was very comfortable. They couldn't have done anymore to make us welcome and will definately book again.

Oddly unwelcoming guest, mocked me for using Expedia upon entry to the property. Laughed about me essentially getting scammed for using Expedia and instructed me that I wouldn't be having breakfast instead of offering it to me. Tiny bathroom with a tiny shower. Instructed that you are forbidden from bringing food in to your room. Upstairs room had TV on full volume until 3am (it has been possible to restrict certain volume levels on TVs for over 20 years to prevent this issue). Poor parking at property. I've paid less for beautiful and professional boutique hotels. I reccomend you choose somewhere else to stay!

Lovely feel to the building and easily walkable to Eccles. I was able to walk ten minutes into Eccles and catch the train to Picadilly. Great welcome and friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic. The Ascott hotel is wonderful, and I had a lovely stay. The owner was very welcoming on arrival, and my single room with an ensuite bathroom was immaculate. For my first stay in Manchester, this was a great location, close to some excellent shops and bars, and 10 minutes' drive to Salford Quays. I would most definitely book this hotel again.

Super room and comfy bed, home from home. No Takeaways allowed in the room and an early checkout of 10 a.m. with a check in at 4 .p.m. shows a lack of flexibility in these modern times. Decent value with an optional breakfast. Well positioned on a regular bus route.

The room we stayed in would benefit from curtains that block out the street lights and I found the duvet in our room (22) smelt a tad musty. Otherwise the staff were very pleasant, the room was serviceable, a nice breakfast with good coffee and our experience positive.

A very comfortable, clean and adequate single room. Only personal bugbear was the guest(s) in the room above mine keeping me awake with stomping around late in the night with the television blaring. (so inconsiderate of other guests).

We had a lovely quiet room which was what we wanted. The bed was big and comfy and we both slept well although the room was very warm. Check in and out was easy. Parking was safe and easy. We didn't have breakfasts as we had an early hospital appointment so can't comment on the food. Hopefully we will have time for breakfast next time.

The rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Rooms are nicely decorated with useful toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel and cotton buds. Hairdryer, kettle and tea and coffee was available in room which was also useful. The room was cosy and bed was comfortable however we were in a room with a door that led to another, the host did show us the room and informed us about this however we were able to hear the people staying next door quite easily due to this as it sounds like their bathroom was the other side of the door/wall. Parking is available however it can be difficult to find an actual space if arriving late. Nonetheless the stay was good and was definitely budget friendly, would recommend .
