Gilded Age Mansion

Transport yourself back in time to America's Gilded Age to luxuriate in the mansion of a 19th-century aristocrat. August Schuette made his fortune with his family's Manitowoc department store. This is the home he built for his family, now lovingly restored to its original grandeur. Then and now, the Schuette Mansion is the epitome of understated elegance and luxury. Even the modern high-end kitchen retains the luxury appointments of an age gone by.

A stay in this lovingly restored 1895 mansion is to immerse yourself in the gentle luxuries of a bygone age. It melds the elegance of an English Victorian country house with the coziness of a family retreat. Whether you are looking for a memorable family holiday straight out of a Hallmark movie, coming for a Packers game, appreciating the spectacular culture and scenery of Lake Michigan's "Coolest Coast" or throwing yourself body and soul into the water sports that have made this part of the Great Lakes a recreational paradise, this magnificent home will be your solace and refuge. Its five large bedrooms comfortably sleep up to 11 guests.

The modern kitchen and two full baths are beyond luxurious.

And the charms of this lovely town with its downtown shopping, dining, arts, culture, marinas and lakeshore walks are only steps away from your comfortable porch!

18th century home all the way
18th century home with a tiny bit of modern added. Plenty of beading provided. The beds are a bit hard for our liking. The biggest thing i can offer for future guests. With an old home comes floors the creek. If you light sleeper or baby, keep in mind. What we would consider the “master bedroom” with the king bed. There is NOT a bathroom inside the bedroom. It shares a bathroom with the other two bedrooms at the end of the hall. One bedrooms w/queen bed does have a bathroom. My son and daughter-in-law enjoyed. We are bigger people that chose the king bed over a bathroom. NOTE: THERE IS NOT AN ELEVATOR. Not a problem for us. However it may be for some. All bedrooms are upstairs. One very small toilet and sink on bottom floor under staircase. Oh, it would be strongly suggested to the owner of the house to leave directions on how to use the oven. It was quite confusing for us! With the help of google/youtube we got it figured out. On the owners defense we did not bother them with such a quandary. There are two separate knobs to use to adjust the oven. One for the mode you want to use and one for temperature. Toggling each one. The owner did reach out a couple of time to check to see if we needed anything. We do not have any complaints at all. More just information for future guest is all. Medium TV in middle setting room. Very cute den/office area. AC downstairs. Did not seem to be upstairs. Washer/dryer in basement. Very pretty landscaping! Made for beautiful wedding photo

Really cool house
This is an awesome old home with a lot of character, that has been updated well. We had seven adult family members stay. There was plenty of room, furnishings were great. We were very comfortable and all commented that we would stay there again.
