Secluded 1940s Romantic Tiny House on the River

Riverfront cabin with kitchen and balcony
Relax and escape to the peace and quiet by the Potomac river, and wake to beautiful romantic views of the river and mountains, in this romantic 200 square foot tiny house situated on 2.5 acres, 450 feet of river front land. Explore and take advantage of all the activities on the river and surrounding area. Fish, bike, kayak, tube, or just sit by the river and watch the birds and wild life. Sit and read by the river or in the quite comfort of the house, w/ a bottle of wine on us. Experience tiny house living with this unique home while still enjoying some modern comforts. There is no running water in the home and the bathroom is a modern outhouse. This is a 1940s refurbished fisherman's cabin. It was likely built in or about 1942 as the original electric fixtures are from that date, we had to modernize them though as they don't meet current code. It is very likely that the structure was built to replace an older wooden structure in the same location. There is electricity but no running water, bottled water is provided. NOTE that the bathroom is a pit outhouse located nearby. On the west side of the 200square foot room, you will find a very comfortable Queen sized bed with CertiPUR foam mattress and lots of pillows. There are several blankets. At the foot is a WWII mail crate restored and converted to a trunk that was found in the tiny house, used to store extra linens and blankets. Above the headboard is a fantastic decorative shelf made from river maple that fell by the river in front of the building. Right in front of the bed is a window affording great views of the river. On the east side of the building is the sitting area with kitchen cabinets. The counter is made from old reclaimed barn door complete with the clasp. The shelves above are from the from of the barn door complete with hinges. Equipped with utensils, a microwave, dorm fridge, and crock water dispenser. A table for two in front of another river facing window. Outside is a small porch with two comfortable chairs and BBQ, that has a commanding view of the river. The cabin and this sitting area are nestled back into the wooded hillside loved by a plethora of songbirds and woodpeckers. Home sits on 2.5 acres adjacent to the Potomac river with C&O national historical park across the river. This section of the river is usually shallow and often can be walked across, near Packhorse Ford. Between the property and Shepherdstown is the historic battlefield of Shepherdstown with walking path and markers. Nestled to the other side of the tiny house is the very clean and comfortable pit toilet (out house). It is in the original location but all rebuilt with modern seat and plenty of privacy, well vented and stocked with hand sanitizer. Full access to all living spaces, parking area, all yard areas. The river front and fire pit are shared areas with the Stone River house. House includes: Free WiFi, but no TV heat bedding microwave BBQ and porch with a view
Guest accommodations at this cabin offer air conditioning. Rooms open to balconies or patios. Guests can surf the web using the complimentary wireless Internet access. Kitchens offer refrigerators, microwaves, separate dining areas, and cookware/dishes/utensils.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Perfect cabin experience
This cabin provides a great alternative to camping. The cabin is comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. The setting on the river is lovely. And the owner is very serious about being a good, professional host.

Very fun night away from city life. Relaxed and played board games, sat by the river, and explores Shepardstown right down the street.

end of fall stay at the tiny cabin
a relaxing and quiet weekend. perfect way to unplug before the stress of the holidays. Cabin was clean, cozy and warm as well as surrounded by nature and not far from the quaint town of shepardstown. Would definitely recommend!

Great little getaway spot
Perfect little getaway spot for people that don’t need luxury. Beautiful dock near the river, great fire pit. Clean with everything you need. The grill has a burner for boiling water for the French press for coffee, or cooking eggs in the morning like we did. With some creativity you can make almost anything with the grill. Comfy bed, we brought a DVD player and small tv we used since there’s electric, the WiFi is more for email and messaging and definitely not streaming. The small fridge is plenty and the microwave was helpful. Just enough comfort to get by. Nearby redbox and town were close and convenient enough. We bikes the towpath, kayaked and hiked nearby and enjoyed some excellent meals from local restaurants too. Perfect for a couple looking to getaway. There’s a sink outdoors for cleaning and the basin can be used for washing, we bathed with boiled water and sink water. It worked. The pit toilet outside is clean and not too far, there’s a lantern for nighttime trips. We really enjoyed ourselves, we definitely would love to come back for another visit.
