"We came for a short stay to recharge between our destinations. This property is older, but the rooms and the bath were clean. The room was very spacious and had extra blankets and stuff which was nice. Free snacks and alcohol was awesome!! The baths were also so relaxing. Sweet views and chill vibes. "Absolutely loved our stay here! The buffet breakfast and dinner included were great and provided a vast range of Japanese, Western and Italian options. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us and our ten month old baby. The rooms were well maintained and spacious for Japan. Gorgeous location, but remember that it is quite a distance away (at least 20 mins by car if not further) from restaurants (for dinner, there are a few lunch options closer)/convenience stores, etc."

"I absolutely loved Shibu Hotel! The staff went out of their way to help me at every opportunity, the food was incredible, and the location made exploring Shibu Onsen so easy. I can't recommend it enough! Staff: Before I arrived, they actually contacted ME about a pickup outside their posted pickup hours. I hadn't even asked because I assumed it wasn't an option! They checked the weather for me, and someone even ran after me with an umbrella when it started raining. I was traveling alone, and everyone was so warm and welcoming. They recognized me, seemed happy to see me, and I never had trouble communicating. Room: Beautiful traditional Japanese room with tatami and futons. Spacious, quiet, very clean, and I got to watch the fog roll in over the hills from my window! Baths/location: They gave me a yukata and a key with a little map for the nine public baths, and I bought a towel at the desk. But honestly? I liked the hotel's own bath even more. So refreshing! The hotel is also easy to spot, even after wandering the winding streets for ages. Food: Dinner was a beautiful multicourse meal. The fresh fish was wonderful, the beef nabe was incredible, and breakfast was full of little dishes with traditional Japanese flavors. I couldn't get over the tsukemono! I really loved this place. More than anything, it was how kind everyone was. They didn't just help when I asked—they noticed things and helped before I could even think to ask."

"While this is an older hotel, it is clean, things are in working order, and rather charming and unique. For example, I had a large room with a small patio that offered a beautiful view of the city. It’s in a quaint quiet town with gorgeous views of the mountains surrounding the town. I appreciated the thoughtful touch of hot green tea. The thermos amazingly kept the water hot even till the next morning. Because I went during « low » season in May, I was able to enjoy the onsen to myself ! The host/owner is a sweet man. It is rather expensive for one night but I did not regret my stay. I did get plenty of exercise being on the fourth floor with no elevator."
