“We had the pleasure of staying at Jordi's amazing hotel last weekend. What an incredible host and gorgeous property! The pictures do not do it justice. Highly recommend you go there to see for yourself. Amazing ocean views from all the rooms as well. Jordi is the nicest guy and probably the best host I have experienced. “La Valise Mazunte is, without question, a stunning property. The design, the views, and the overall atmosphere are exceptional, and the food was a true highlight—the chef is superb and delivers a memorable culinary experience. However, the service unfortunately falls short of what one would expect from a hotel with such potential. While the staff is genuinely kind and well-intentioned, the hotel feels understaffed and unable to deliver a luxury experience. There is no room service, no minibar……

“The AC did not cool past a certain point, but was good enough. The staff seemed kind of careless. Didn't get a welcoming vibe from them. The wifi comes and goes. The water they offer is outside so it's always warm and dusty. Half the building is still under construction. The new concrete rooms look like a cold, gray, bunker. Staying there for multiple days makes you feel like you're in a dungeon. The toilet would shoot water up like a geyser when flushing. The shower is right next to a sliding……

“This hotel definitely comes with a bit of a workout — there are quite a few stairs to climb to get around the property. That said, it’s one of those rare cases where the effort genuinely pays off. The views from up top are absolutely stunning and make every step worth it. The room itself was fantastic. “We really enjoyed our stay here in early December. The room decor was lovely and the beds were on opposite end of an L shape so it was great for sharing with a friend. The pool was lovely, location excellent, staff very friendly, and just a really nice ambiance and view of the trees and flowers.
