I arrived in Montrose early evening by train, and got a taxi to this hotel. What a charming and a cosy place to stay in along with great tasting food. The hotel staff working here are quite friendly to chat to… and they also give out good info on the surrounding area as well,…
Absolutely awful hotel. Pretty sure the room wasn’t cleaned prior to us staying as it was disgusting. Breakfast option was awful too. Fruit all mouldy / bruised. Bread for toast but no butter etc even checked on fridge. Tried to complain but no staff around. Was advised by other guests no staff around until late afternoon. Awful. Don’t stay.
Really dated, run down place...right opposite a busy train line (commuter in the daytime and cargo during the night)
Small room with thin walls, massive window with no soundproofing combined with paper thin curtains meant a terrible night's sleep.
Turned up and it was closed and is for sale. I rang the phone number but it rang out. I ended up having to book somewhere else

Hillside hotel
Very helpful staff ,hotel is very dated , furniture looks like from 1980s thrift shop ,didn't risk the breakfast in the morning either
The establishment is currently for sale ,I think a bulldozer would be a better option than a buyer
