Relax by the River at the Cottage at Cedar Point

**Please note the maximum stay length is 2 weeks (14 days) absent written approval by owner before booking**

Welcome to the cottage, where you can kick back, relax, and appreciate down time, Southern-style. Whether you're a kayaker interested in exploring Eastern NC waterways, a family visiting a loved one at Camp LeJeune, or a couple wanting a romantic refuge, the cottage at Cedar Point can provide a wonderful base for a few days or more. Working remotely or have children in remote schooling? We have high speed internet and lovely places to work from with great views. Your well-behaved dog can join you!

Enjoy the lounge furniture on the front porch with a lovely sunset view. Stretch out with a novel (or take a snooze) in the hammock on the screened porch, where you’re looking out on the White Oak River. Enjoy dinner under the pergola with string lights. When feeling more ambitious, you can put in kayaks and paddle toward the marshes of Croatan National Forest, or around the bend and under the Swansboro bridge, across the Intracoastal Waterway, and out toward Bear Island State Park. The cottage is located one (empty) lot from the White Oak River. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive to the public beach at Emerald Isle, or to the scenic Tideland Trail of Croatan National Forest.

Walk or ride your bike to the Salty Air Market and the Salty Bee, and grab a cold beverage from the converted school bus, munch on some boiled peanuts, peruse local vendors and listen to live music. Close by in Cedar Point is 34 North - a great spot for those looking to unwind with outdoor games, craft beer pouring system, and usually a food truck. If you're the wine type, check out nearby Christina's Wine Boutique for a glass of wine and pick up a unique bottle from their curated selection. The kids will love putt putt, bowling, games and more at nearby MacDaddy's, a boat trip to "Shark Tooth Island" to collect shells and shark teeth, or a day trip to the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Ride your bikes to Swansboro just back over the bridge. Swansboro is an historic fishing village with a beautiful and quaint waterfront downtown. A few of our favorites in downtown Swansboro: dinner or brunch at The Boro; classic diner breakfast at Yana's (with Elvis flair); ice cream on the second-story deck at Bake, Bottle & Brew (keep an eye out for dolphins!); lunch at Church Street Pub (or get takeout and pack the sandwiches for the beach!), live music on the dock at Saltwater Grill; browsing nautical treasures and antiques at Poor Man's Hole; and exploring lots of other lovely shops!

Inside the cottage, WOW! There are vaulted ceilings, beachy colors, lots of windows, shiplap, recently restored original heart pine floors in living room and kitchen, and heritage plank flooring in the bedrooms. Ceiling fans in every room and on the front and side porches. Dining room table seats 6. Great collection of puzzles, games, books, and DVD library. Large comfy sofa for the whole family to relax. Internet access; TV with Roku (SlingTV package and Netflix) in living room and TV with Chromecast in master bedroom.

Master bedroom has a comfy firm king-sized bed; master bath has a large jacuzzi and walk-in shower with two shower heads. The shower includes a steam generator, which is especially nice in cooler weather. Second bedroom has two twin beds; second bath has a combo tub/shower. Linens and bath towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels).

If you’re inclined to cook, you’ll enjoy the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. We have a propane grill available on the side deck, along with ample seating for outdoor dining with a water view and string lights. And you won’t find seafood fresher than the fish sold at Clyde’s, between the two bridges on the way to Swansboro.

We have three sea kayaks (one double and two singles; includes paddles and lifejackets) and four adult beach bikes with locks (BYO helmets) — kayaks & bikes available for rent upon request. If interested, please inquire and we can add this to your reservation.

We allow a maximum of 4 guests. The house is a no-smoking zone. Ours is a quiet neighborhood, so please, no house parties. The yard is not fully fenced, but you can walk your dog along the road, which borders the river.

Don't waste your Time or Money on this Rental!
Wow!! Where do I start!!!! Checking in was a problem as the front door handle is almost broken. You have to be very careful with it. We had to leave the side door open when we were not in the cottage because we were afraid we would be locked out, what a pain it was. Obviously the owner does not want to fix it as other renters had left reviews about this same issue. The fridge door where the ice comes out was frozen when I tried to get ice out. I opened the door and all this ice just came falling out all over the floor. The dining chairs look like something the owners picked up at a Flea Market. They were metal with no cushions, very uncomfortable! According to a picture on VRBO, it looked like they had regular dining chairs at one time but traded them out for these awful sitting metal ones. Also, please be careful when flushing the toilets, taking showers/baths and running the dishwasher. We had to stagger all of the use of these things because they have a septic tank issue. The toilets would back up and almost flowed over a couple of times. You could smell the awful odor outside on the screened in porch and see it puddling in the yard. Other renters had complained about the same thing.Again, it looks like the owners aren't doing anything to correct this problem. Probably the most annoying and aggravating issue was the mosquitoes! There were so many of them you can't enjoy the outdoors Owners need to have a professional company spray regularly. We will never stay here again!!

Kayak fishing trip
Perfect location to fish White Oak River and intercoastal. Easy access to the water and if you plan accordingly, you can ride the tide to the intercoastal and ride high tide back into the sound. Great for red drum, flounder, and trout!! We were only able to fish one out of four days due to a storm (which we all know it's storm season) but the one day of fishing we were able to catch our limit of each species!! Great accommodations!

Great location for deep sea fishing departure/nice water access
Primary visit was a colleague meet up before a deep sea fishing departure out of Dudley’s marina Fri am. Location was perfect gif that. We could have walked. Was also right between Swansboro & EI. After fishing my wife & daughter joined for Fri/Sat as colleagues went home. My daughter loved the water access and watching the crabs. House was comfortable & had great amenities. Maybe a couple of small things could use a touch up, but isn’t that always true. May look to stay there again. Didn’t get to use back porches or outside amenities, but front porch was great.
