Check in was very smooth and the staff was extremely nice but the hotel room was the size of a storage closet. I booked the deluxe suit thinking it was going to be better than a standard suit but it turns out that it’s the same thing just extra. Our room was right outside of the storage closet for the cleaning crew and in the morning we heard everything that was going on outside in the hallway.
The property was well kept, clean and artsy- such a cute boutique hotel to stay in. The area Is very walkable and close to shopping and parks. I did notice that there were no bathrobes in my room and no available room service yet. I think those two things would be good improvements to have. Otherwise the room was great!
The hotel overall and our room was exactly as cozy and stylish as is depicted in the photos. With friendly staff and location central to all the activity and transport in Manhattan, my partner and I really enjoyed our stay at HGU. We would happily recommend it to anyone and would gladly return.
