"A charming cozy cottage that we totally loved. It was quiet, parking at the door, and felt like home. It does have very steep and narrow winding stairs to access the bedrooms and bathrooms, so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Apart from that, we would happily stay forever! Thank you "

"I needed somewhere cheap and easy to stay near Stansted Airport and this hotel did the job. Takes about 5-10 minutes to drive to the airport from here. They appear to store a lot of cars in their car park so I suspect their shuttle service is quite popular. I didn’t use this as I had already booked Mid Stay. I stayed in room 8A, a single but had a double bed. Located just through the restaurant doors by the stairs it was perfect for sneaking out at 4am. The room was modern and clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing, really fancy with lots of options. Reception lady was friendly, but I saw no one else. Literally a quick stop off. WiFi was very unreliable. TV had a few channels to choose from. Mostly it’s somewhere to sleep. The M11 services have loads of electric car chargers (incl. Tesla ones) so no need to worry about your EV at this hotel."

"An older property that will be considered characterful or dated depending on your viewpoint. I enjoyed it including the narrow stairs and corridors, and the historic nature of the room, which was not lacking for the usual amenities. I had an excellent dinner and the Full English Breakfast was all you could wish for. The staff were attentive and friendly. It is a short walk from the 24 hr public car park and is in the centre of town."

"We stayed at the Black Horse as we were going to a friends evening wedding reception in Nuthampstead which is about 3.5 miles away. This was one of the nearest places we could find to stay. Please don’t use Uber when you’re coming back from somewhere to the Black Horse because they are likely to cancel on you, use the local taxi company. The host was very nice. We had a lovely large luxury room called Shonks, comfy bed, lovely bathroom with a great shower. There is use of a shared kitchen in the morning and you can help yourself to things like coffee, toast and cereals. The only thing I would perhaps improve upon is I feel that the window in a kind of little hallway area when you come out the bathroom could have a curtain or net curtain on it. It was a lovely surprise to find that there were people setting up stalls the morning after we stayed and I actually bought some lovely handmade bags but I don’t know how much they wanted to see me coming out the shower in my towel. We would definitely stay again."

"Excellent Breakfast - continental and cooked. Rooms are quaint - Wooden beams and low ceilings in places, and floors have unevenness of old floors. Staircases are steep and narrow. Rooms have plenty of space. Our room had a bath and shower attachment but other rooms have shower so one might need to ask if you have a preference. Very helpful staff. Dinner was good but a little pricey (maybe that was par for the area?). Outside area was beautiful - on the cricket green. Lots of parking space and taxis can give transfer to airport if required."
