"I was caught off-guard by the "hotel clerk in a box" - there was a kiosk next to the reception desk and a guy was staring back at me from a screen a la Zoom. I guess it's a cost-savings measure, but not being a frequent traveler, I was disoriented. Nevertheless, he was friendly and polite and walked me through the process. And the fact that there was a real person running the process instead of a standalone unstaffed kiosk (I've stayed in a place like that before) was a plus."
