In some respects, it was a mixed bag. We had clear expectations there was some walking to the main building and that was fine. We liked our cabin (minus when the mini-fridge started smoking -- and we removed it for safety and didn't get a replacement, but did get free drinks). Our cabin was clean and we were right by the brook with sheep so the views were great. Overall service was mostly good, albeit slow sometimes despite not being busy. And if you don't have cell service you have to walk down to the main building for help since there are no phones in the room. Unfortunately we booked the sauna, got all robed up and walked down, and then it didn't work. With the schedule we weren't able to find another time. The bar was cool with a good selection and vibes. The robust complimentary breakfast was a true highlight each morning and the wait staff were friendly. But unfortunately one morning there was a loud, major fight with foul language from the kitchen staff, which was pretty awkward. It definitely felt like some of the staff didn't want to be there and we heard some complain a lot, while others were truly lovely.

This property is still a work in progress. The cabins were wonderful and the view is amazing. The staff was friendly, but not overly attentive or helpful. The parking lot is a mess and my car wheel was nearly stuck in the ricks twice.

The Pod idea for rooms is an interesting concept, but the execution here is flawed. 1. The location of the property - on the edge of town- pretty much assumes guests will arrive by car - and to preserve the isolated feeling for the Pods the parking lot is located far from the rooms - which is a good move - however the parking lot is nothing but a pile of loose gravel - so there’s really no way to roll your luggage from your parked car to reception. 2. The same loose gravel was also used for all the pathways to all the rooms - and the distance from the parking lot or reception- depending on your Pod location can be 100s of yards away. I know gravel is an inexpensive permeable material- but there are other options- more expensive- that would be suitcase friendly. 3. The Pods are nice - however there’s only one window in the front of the Pod and the Pod is basically just a bed room and bathroom- so to enjoy the view you basically need to keep your bedroom curtains wide open - not very private. A skylight would have been a good addition. 4. Other items - the mirrors in the rooms were just hung with picture hooks - which is unusual. The shower did not have a caddy for the shampoo and conditioner so those were on the floor, and the toilet paper holder was a wobbly metal thing that kept falling over. 5. Breakfast was okay not great - the restaurant was closed during our stay- but the menu looked adventurous. 6. The main building bar was nice - prices were a bit high.

Very quiet. beautiful views. The pods were a bit too small but otherwise loved our stay. Great restaurant and bar. Don’t try and bring outside food into the bar to eat with their drinks. (This was frowned upon). But there was an awesome food truck just up the road (Pizza in the Skye) and we couldn’t resist… They moved us to the “lounge”, which was right next to the bar. Extensive whisky to be enjoyed at their bar.

Wonderful place to stay, a true home away from home. Accommodations were very comfortable with all the amenities you need. The staff were all wonderful. The breakfast was a hot, sit down meal. order from a menu not a buffet.

Really nice place with friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars if cabins would be a little bit bigger, so there’s space for suite cases. Food options for none seafood eaters could be better.

Beautiful concept hotel with the loveliest staff! Dinner in the restaurant is not to be missed, on par with some of the best food I have had. Also, take time to enjoy the bar- it’s a beautiful space with a great barman. Be ready to walk a distance to town if you do not have your own car, as taxis are not immediately on call in general on Skye.

What a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was adorable and everything was new and stylish. The bed was super comfortable and all the linens were soft and cozy. The restaurant was delightful. The breakfast has some great options and the dinner service was well thought out. Incredible service. Really lovely group of people working there.

Cozy and Quiet
We were trying to find a place out of town in hopes of seeing the northern lights. This Bracken Hide was the best choice we had in this area. It was an interesting place. We ended up arriving at the service entrance as the actual entrance wasn't very noticeable. Check in was easy in the common building and the staff very friendly. The yurts were scattered up the hill behind the check in building. Parking was in front of the check in building down the hill. They will ferry you and your bags by golf cart if needed. That said, there is a bit of walking between the parking lot, check in and yurts. You need not be an olympic athlete but you do need to be able to walk up / downhill about 200 yards between the parking lot and the yurts. The yurts were cozy and clean. The check in building is where the dining facility is located. Both dinner and breakfast were really good. The saunas were not working at the time we visited. My only complaint would be that, from the yurts, you can see the maintenance area, which is behind the check in building and is a bit of an eye sore. This takes away from the nice views that are seen from the hillside. Overall, if I were in the area again, I would stay at Bracken Hide again.

I’ve seen mixed reviews for Bracken Hide leading up to my trip, and I can say without question, we loved it. The Bracken Hide main building, bar, and Fraser’s restaurant are beautiful spaces that feel premium and luxurious, but not pretentious. The cabins are so cozy and just comfortable. They’re not big, but that’s kinda the point. We stayed in December, and essentially had the whole place to ourselves. With that said, the service didn’t suffer and everything was available. Actually that’s a lie the Sauna which is a big selling point was being serviced, but we traded that for a view of the Aurora Borealis from our cabin. Easy trade. As reported, parking is a bit of a walk, and the outside space is not pristinely manacured, but I didn’t go in expecting the Ritz. Breakfast seemed to be a point of frustration for some… I would just say check with the Bracken Hide for what’s included. We got a full warm and cold selection included each morning. Though this may change throughout the year. Either way, it was lovely to sit and watch the sunrise over the bay from the restaurant each morning. We absolutely loved our time here, and I think if you’re the glamping type, you will too.

Wonderful night spent at Bracken Hide. We began our evening at the Whisky Bar where Wayne the bartender chatted with us and told us about the local whisky. Then, dinner at Fraser's. It was delicious! Peaceful and quiet night's sleep in our pod. Highly recommend!
