At night time, it is quite dark and the house on the right where we turn was lit up but not the hotel office. It was confusing. 2) A much bigger sign is needed for the hotel office. I visited the area during High season, and rates were high in the area. This was a great economical alternative. The room was spotless, the location was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a modest hotel with smaller rooms, but everything works just fine, including the TV and the Wi-Fi. The lodge is conveniently located near the bike trail linking Newburgh and Poughkeepsie and the walkway over the Hudson River. The bed was comfortable, room was neat and bathroom/shower were acceptable. If you require amenities, such as a pool, gym or lounge, pay more and book at a corporate/chain lodging. If your good with a fair price and decent room, this is your place! It is right next to the Rail Trail that spans the Hudson River (do it) and beautiful Franny Reece park with its miles of meandering trails through colorful woods. We were able to park right outside our room at no cost so we could go in and out easily. This is an older motel that has been popular since the 1950's and it was fun to go retro for a few days. Refridgerators, freezers, microwaves and coffeepots have been added in the modernizing updates, but the motel still retains that James Dean feel. Staff courteous. We had a room in the main building with interior hallway. Great location to “walkway over Hudson”. Also the tv did not work. We left and found a Super 8 motel and checked in. We then went back to the Atlas and checked out. The clerk said we could apply for refund thru Expedia.
