"The River House was a perfect oasis for me and my family. Having visited Hanalei many times over the past decade, we were already very familiar with the area and choice of accommodations. While some condos have fantastic ocean views (which we prioritized when we first came to this area), we wanted more space (kids no longer little), air conditioning in the evenings, privacy, quiet, beauty and a convenient location to everything we love about Hanalei. We didn't miss the ocean view one bit - it was just a paddle up the river from the property. We had total privacy in the middle of a gorgeous tropical garden, beautiful scents after the rainfall, birdsong and peace. The house was spotless, the beds were extremely comfortable, and we had lots of room to spread out. We cooked some lovely meals and felt "at home". We were just a few minutes walk to the local shop for the basics - such friendly folks there, where you can also hop onto the Haena State Park shuttle. We were a few minutes' drive from our favorite beach (Lumaha'i) where the fresh water from the river meets a gorgeous surf, and less than 10 min drive from Hanalei town center. Mark arranged delivery of the paddleboards as well as the gear to attach to our rental car. Wi-Fi worked great. We wouldn't hesitate to return to pretend we were locals for just a few days!"

"Beautiful home, perfect for our family. Only a short walk from Tunnels beach, with everything you could want at the home or to take the beach. We loved the outside shower and bathtub and the views from the balcony. Sad to be leaving! We will definitely stay again when we come back to Kauai."

"Mmy wife and two kids eight and 12 stayed in this magical house on stilts in the jungle. It's on the North Shore and though it is close to the road. It is definitely remote with all the screens closed and the windows open. You can hear the sounds of birds and bullfrogs and rain. this is the perfect place to retreat after days in the sun, watching TV eating ice cream playing board games. It has a beautiful lanai (screened in patio )for outdoor dinner and drinks. The only downside is that the beach across the road is barred from public access., We were told by local people that it is too dangerous to swim and it is Hawaiian land. Which means that if you want to swim in the ocean, you're going to need to get in a car no walking to the beach from this property."
