"Staff and guides were all excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the drives. Lodge and food also excellent and we met some fantastic people, however we very very disappointed with our accommodation. We had expected an individual lodge in a private and peaceful setting however we were situated in a lodge attached to another lodge just above the main lodge and kitchen block. So we could constantly hear noise of the kitchen preparations, plates and bins being emptied and staff singing and talking rather...

"Great food, great game drives with knowledgeable drivers. The drivers are wildlife experts and were happy to answer any questions (and we had a lot!). I really hoped to see the giraffes up close and our driver delivered!"

"A really lovely and relaxing place to spend a few days whilst visiting the game reserves.
Very attentive staff, a large and comfy bedroom
A lookout deck, pool, hammock and outdoor seating area are all lovely, and would be fabulous in warmer weather.
Three course dinner (set menu) was delicious and all home-prepared on site. The dining room is also very nice, and we were seated right by the fire - very welcome in August.
The shower did go cold on us twice, but I think in winter it's harder...

"Our stay at Quatermain’s was one of the highlights of our three-week trip through South Africa.
Julie was incredibly accommodating and made every request feel easy. Jess and Kyle were excellent game-drive guides—engaging, attentive and clearly passionate about what they do. Nick’s warm hospitality made us feel completely at home, while Riaan’s incredible knowledge brought every part of the walking safari to life.
The camp’s thoughtful comforts were equally memorable. The hot-water bottles...

"Bukela is a beautiful stay, facilities are great, friendly staff and our ranger (Sim) was very knowledgeable. Foodwise is really below average, just not good especially for a 5* resort. It felt like diner was prepared during the day and heated up in the evening, just not fresh. Breakfast was really poor. Only meal that was good was the lunch. No snacks during the day. Due to this matter i will not likely to visit Bukela again nor reconmend to anyone which is regretful as the staff and facilities...

"I had a super stay here. It is really nice that the B&B actually provides breakfast along with tea and coffee and crackers. That makes the morning much easier. Also, I unexpectedly had an overnight guest and the hotelier allowed me to bring the other guest in the guest room. This was much appreciated."

"Hopewell is potentially a stupendous destination. Accommodation was excellent and luxurious. I feel they tried too hard to provide very fancy food that did not quite come off and this could be improved. They do not have the Big 5 but there is plenty of game to see and the Ranger is excellent. This is a fantastic location for a honeymoon or just a peaceful getaway in the Eastern Cape Bush."

"Was left stranded outside the gate with no access no instructions. Gate would not open even though wr drove up to it. Phone lines dead. Had no option but to drive away feeling very sad and extremely dissapointed. Drove off into the dark desert looking for a last minute booking which ended up being 1.5 hours drive away. Management said no refund once they finally contacted us in a new telephone number that neither us or hotels.com had been provided with. Still waiting for some sort of apology...

This is an "Out of Africa" style tented camp with no electricity! Visitors stay in quaint, private tents with private bathrooms. Daily safari's are led by knowledgeable guides. Ample food and beverages are included. There's room for 6 visitors total, so the experience is intimate and the staff treat you like family. Definitely worth experiencing. They handled our transportation to and from Port Elizabeth Airport.

We spent 2 nights at Woodbury Lodge shortly after a 4 night stay in Sabi Sands, and were really glad that we did! The lodge is nicely located on a hill, very comfortable and with great views and throughout our short visit we were continually impressed by the service and friendliness of the staff. Our first drive shortly after we arrived was super! We really wanted to see a Cheetah (didn’t find one in Sabi Sands) and with Brad our guide we managed to see one. Exceptional property, design, and experience with top hospitality. The common areas are picture-perfect overlooking small waterholes frequently visited by playful warthogs, curious antelope, and brightly colored birds while you eat breakfast and lunch. The villa interior surprised us in every corner from little aesthetic details, unexpected offerings in the cupboard, local bedtime stories at turndown, or staff leaving wine and glasses by the bathtub our first night. When is the best time to go to Sidbury?
The best time to visit Sidbury is during the dry winter months, from May to September, when wildlife viewing is at its peak.
During these months, the vegetation is sparse, and animals congregate around water sources, making them easier to spot. The weather is generally mild and sunny, with cooler evenings, which is ideal for safari activities. This period is particularly good for families as the lower humidity and fewer insects make for a more comfortable experience, especially for younger children.
The shoulder seasons, April and October, also offer pleasant weather and good wildlife viewing. While there might be occasional rain, these months provide a balance of comfortable temperatures and fewer visitors.
